There has been some talk of the AFL around here this year, since Brad Banks joined the Iowa Barnstormers. As a season ticket holder for the Chicago Rush, anything that drums up interest I see as a good thing. I hope that any of you in the Des Moines area have made it to a game
That being said, on June 26th (Sunday), the Barnstormers are coming to Chicago to face the Rush. I'm going to be there, but my wife and kids can't make it, so I thought I'd see if any of you are interested in making it an unofficial BHGP get together. I've got three extra tickets that I'm willing to pass along, and the price for anyone else who is interested is reasonable, the cheap seats can be had for $10 (plus ticketbastard's fees), and parking is usually around $15. I'd be happy to show up early and grab a spot in the tailgating lot, and perhaps even provide some beverages.
It's football, you get to see a former Hawkeye hero, and support the Red Cross, who is donating a portion of ticket sales, and having a teddy bear toss at the game.
Come out and see former Hawks Banks, Pete Traynor, and Rodney Filer (Hold on, back up. Rodney Filer is playing? Jesus, he was playing when I was in school. He's like the Morten Anderson of fullbacks). It's not like there are any other sports this time of the year.
As a final note, if you are in the Des Moines area, the Barnstorner game on 6/18 will feature a Brad Banks replica jersey giveaway for the first 1000 kids under the age of 14. So if you have little ones running around, take them to a game.
