Good to see these guys have Klug getting drafted. He deserves it.
I’d like to see my Niners get Stanzi and DJK. Wouldn’t really mind some Sash either. Hell draft all of them Baalke!
Wait, this guy is in charge of the Niners draft?

The Ravens picking either Clayborn or Ballard
doesn’t make much sense to me, in that defense, you have to be either very big, or very fast, neither of these guys fits their mold.

Ballard: Very big, very fast.

Ballard was rumored 310 at one point..
Adrian’s 10 yard split was pretty damn good. I think they would do just fine IMHO

look at the guys on the D-line in Baltimore
they have 3 guys that are right around 350, another at 320, and 2 around 290
IMO, Ballard and Clayborn would have a much better chance of success with teams that run a 4-3. Ballard to me is a very interesting prospect, very versatile, but I don’t see him being able to hold down a 3-4 NT spot
As far as Clayborn’s speed, look at Ross’ post from Tuesday, his strength isn’t his foot speed, its in his hands.

Ballard is a prototype 3-4 DE
Maybe your problem is looking at him as a DT/NT

probably true

That's the difference..
I’m just evaluating him from a 3-4 DE position.

McShay has Stanzi and DJK teaming up again in Seattle
wouldn’t that be interesting? I wonder what SEG would do with the Stanzi/DJK Adventures from there…

Is Hasselbeck coming back or not?
If not, would Ricky have a realistic chance to start for the Seahawks this year? I don’t think they have much else in the way of QBs on their roster at the moment.
They really don't
but to expect to spend a 4th round pick on a QB and have him start and succeed the next year is just asking to have a horrible year. I think Hasselbeck will probably have one or two more seasons in him before he hangs it up

I really don't think playing the first few years in the league is a benefit.
If you’re not a super high pick, they’re going to get tired of you throwing picks and bench/get rid of your ass. I think the only reason Manning had time to evolve into what he did was because the Colts couldn’t afford to get rid of him.

I went into way too much of this on another thread
Let’s just say I disagree with the premise that Ricky having to start early would hurt him or that he “needs a couple years” of learning first

yep
Although… I do agree with NPAT in that, while Stanzi would probably be better off starting 32 games in his first three years than sitting and practicing for that long, it might hurt him in the “PR area” and thus, he wouldn’t get a chance to work out his kinks as much. Or something.
But, if a team said it was sticking with him through thick and thin for 3 years, he’d be much better off playing a bunch than sitting.
In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).
Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.
This is more what I was getting at.

I see more downside than good for him to start right away
But it seems like it could be possible, unless Seattle would also bring in a free agent vet to “tutor” Stanzi for a year or two while they see if Ricky is a potential long term solution for them.
What's the bad again?

If Sash goes to the Colts
I’d probably buy season tickets.
Everybody has Klug getting drafted?
I thought the consensus was he wouldn’t be

yeah, me too
I hope he does. Maybe he showed enough in pro days or work outs or what-not that people are thinking he can survive at DE in a 4-3 or at a 5-tech in a 3-4.

if my Niners draft Ricky
I am going to crap myself with excitement. DJK will go there by default just because the Americanzi will telepathically force them to draft him.

A Hawkeye (or two) in Chicago?
That’d be phat, boo-yes. The Bears haven’t drafted anyone from Iowa in over 20 years! You guys remember BIll Anderson, right?
"Hardcore will never die, but you will."
I agree with this comment
except for the spelling of the word “phat”. Also, the use of “boo-yes”.

Am I the only one who thinks that losing is vastly undervalued?
All this talk about Cam Newton (and the ginger) being able to lead their teams to victories, but what about rallying the troops after a tough loss and getting ready to play the next week, neither of these guys have a whole lot of experience in on-the-field adversity.

Yeah,I just moved Stanzi into NE’s spot, and then basically filled the rest into the positions that walterfootball.com had.
