Well, it's not about the file-format.
This website doesn’t store the pictures. It gets them from somewhere else. So you need to have the pictures somewhere where they’re always online, so the website can “fetch” the picture whenever someone wants to look at it.
Since the picture you’re trying to post is on your computer, which might not be connected to the Internet sometimes, this website doesn’t allow you to use that picture. You have to “host” the picture on an online image host, like photobucket.com
Most online image hosts accept a wide variety of image types (including .png, which is what you’re trying to do.)
