Pending McNutt records?
Marvin eclipsed Mo Brown's single season rec. TD record of 11 this weekend. With one regular season game to go McNutt is closing in on the following records...
- 9 more receptions tops Kevin Kasper's single season record of 82 receptions.
- 12 more receptions eclipses DJK's career record of 173 receptions.
- 112 more yards gives him the second highest rec. yards total in Big Ten history behind Lee Evans' 2001 season (and more noteably ahead of Charles Rogers' and Braylon Edwards' best efforts!).
- 2 more receiving TD's puts him 3rd all time in Big Ten receiving TD's behind Braylon Edwards and James Hardy (hey wait, I think Iowa may have given up a few TD's to both of those guys).
Can you imagine what his career numbers would have looked like had he been the #1 option for three years instead of one? Dude has kept it fun to watch in spite of the general frustrations of the last 13 months of Iowa football. Sure will miss him. Also, this...

The stats on that site only go back to 2000, so I dunno how accurate it really is
For example, you will note that they claim Mike Hart has more rushing yards than anyone in Big Ten history, instead of the guy who, ya know, has the most rushing yards in college football history.
with 2 games to go (including bowl game)
all four of these records seem very attainable

The thing about Marvin's circus catch is
that he nearly had another crazy catch in the first half where he bobbled the ball in the endzone but ended up dropping it. I think we missed the FG on that drive. Anyway, Marvin’s absolutely friggin playing lights out this season. I still remember seeing him at Kinnick in 2007-2008 and thinking “I really hope this McNutt can be what we need at QB”. Well, I was wrong about the position on offense, but I guess he ended up being what we needed at WR…
