Anyone see the ESPN Town Hall Meeting on Friday?

29

Let me start by admitting that I'm sure some racism resides in me. I fight against it, and I think I'm winning that fight. And, I want to wish all people a nice MLK, Jr. holliday weekend, and I hope that the spirit of integration and cooperation continue to spread until our society is what it can and should be. However, I started watching my DVR'd version of the ESPN Town Hall Meeting about the Image of the Black Athlete on ESPN on Friday. They began with a panel of: Spike Lee, Marion Jones, John Calipari, and Randy Shannon. Really? I know that Spike Lee is now considered an expert on everything, so I guess I should have expected him. But, why allow Marion Jones to add this appearance to her "rehab my image" schedule? I like Randy Shannon, but how credible is he right now after being dumped by his alma mater a month ago? And John Calipari? Are you serious? I've only watched about 25% of this 2-hour program, so I can't make a complete opinion of it. It will be on again on Sunday, January 16th, on ESPN2, at 11 AM CT. I invite you all to check it out, and tell me if I am just being a grouch, or if this was a sub-par ESPN effort. Have a great weekend and MLK Day!
