University already caving on tailgating rules

The University has officially changed one tailgating rule...undoubtedly in response to a high volume of complaints from fans.

Admitting they “made some mistakes” at the football home opener, University of Iowa officials said Thursday they will tweak some tailgating procedures for a more fan-friendly environment and quicker entry into Kinnick Stadium.

Only one tangible change in the rules will be made...however I think we would be safe to assume that police have gotten a stern talking to and will be on better behavior going forward.

The refinements announced Thursday include the addition of an extra hour — from two to three hours — for post-game tailgating for 11 a.m. kickoffs. That does not impact this week’s 2:30 p.m. kickoff versus Iowa State.
