University already caving on tailgating rules

The University has officially changed one tailgating rule...undoubtedly in response to a high volume of complaints from fans.

Star-divide

http://gazetteonline.com/breaking-news/2010/09/09/hawkeye-fans-ui-will-refine-some-tailgating-protocols

Admitting they “made some mistakes” at the football home opener, University of Iowa officials said Thursday they will tweak some tailgating procedures for a more fan-friendly environment and quicker entry into Kinnick Stadium.

Only one tangible change in the rules will be made...however I think we would be safe to assume that police have gotten a stern talking to and will be on better behavior going forward.

The refinements announced Thursday include the addition of an extra hour — from two to three hours — for post-game tailgating for 11 a.m. kickoffs. That does not impact this week’s 2:30 p.m. kickoff versus Iowa State.

The same problem exists

The article says they will be reconsidering things and changes will be made but they do not tell us what changes are made for this week so many of us are left in the dark wondering what is allowed and what is not.

Your link appears broken

So here it is directly from the athletic department.

I didn’t realize we can bring food into the stadium. I guess you do learn something new every day.

I am a large man...

and so, I’ve always been able to smuggle in granola bars or candy in my pockets/jackets/sweatshirts.

But, I kind of like the idea of bringing in a one-gallon bag of chips, or popcorn. I may have to try that and see how many PerMar employees give me the stink-eye.

I've sentenced boys younger than you to the gas chamber. Didn't want to do it. I felt I owed it to them.
