I need the help of the Pants community!!!

I live in NW Minnesota (rodent country, to be sure!) and bleed black and gold.  According to Directv, the damn Oklahoma/Florida State game is the one that is going to be carried up here Saturday at 2:30.  Yep, that's right, I'll end up with that game instead of getting to see my beloved Hawkeyes beat the piss out of our little brother to the west.  Here's where the help part comes in:  can someone help me or direct me to where I can watch the pay-off of hate week?  I'm willing to do most anything (short of actually driving to Iowa) to see the game, legal or otherwise.  I HAVE TO SEE THE GAME!!  Any and all suggestions are welcome!!  Thanks in advance!

Step One: Calm Down

If you would take a second to look, ESPN2 is carrying the opposite game depending on your viewing area. Everywhere except the Iowa footprint will have Oklahoma/FSU on their ABC affiliate, moving the Iowa/ISU game to ESPN2.

You’re welcome

In all fairness

I’ve reacted that way many times, freaking out about a game before I realized that it was on a different channel (hellooooo BTN overflows). Stupid TV not realizing that we should have the best coverage.

It never gets to be easy

In addition

Per the Big Ten/ESPN contract, the 2:30 ABC game featuring a Big Ten team MUST be carried on either ABC or ESPN2 for every affiliate in the country.

In all honesty

I’ve always lived in Iowa and never had this issue. This is a whole new ballgame for me. Up here, they play hockey and curling….yep, curling!

It's comparable to playing bags in the winter.

Something you can do with very little athletic ability and alot of alcohol.

When watching them in northern Minnesota,

There was an ABUNDANCE of alcohol. #1) To fight the effects of the bitter cold. #2) It was nothing more than a Dart or Bowling league. As told to me by the “contestants” themselves. I brought up being drunk on ice and was told once you play and get the steps and slides down, it’s easier than walking on ice.

Very little athletic ability, yes

Alcohol, no. Trying to keep balanced on the ice and actually make intelligent throws isn’t something that is compatible with being drunk.

Do you have Friends/Family in God's Country?

My parents live in Iowa, I work in Italy. I still watch all the games via a Slingbox. Here is what you need. Both parties need to have High Speed Internet access. The party in Iowa needs a cable box. (An extra cable box preferably). Essentially, you will be controlling the the cable box the sling box is hooked up to (that’s why the extra one comes in handy) and then watching that cable box through your computer.

My review of the product, the game comes in a little pixelated and sometimes is choppy but not near;y as much as I expected. Also, it is the only option I have in Europe to watch a Hawks game. If both people don’t have broadband, don’t waste your time. I hope this helps.

I don't want to, but if I had to burn down an oprhanage, I would look for one in Ames.

Try living in New England

ACC and Big East games are all the rage except nobody watches them. I had to set up skype to watch my parents TV. When Paki-bomb went off I thought that Clayborn ate the punter and that some crazy guy was celebrating by spray painting the end zone with black.

I hear you

Living in upstate NY people confuse College Football is some form of Lacrosse. Maybe if Syracuse ever gets good at footyball again it will be different but until then…..
Up until recently i had to go to the bar with BTN to watch all the ‘off’ games but now i get one feed from the BTN (kudo to timewarner on that one) which is bad for games like EIU but good for Iowa v. the Indiana’s and Minnesota’s.

Are they even promoting the shit out of Herzlich up there?

Or did that actually get more media outside of New England last week than it did in the area where he actually plays?

Try living in southern missouri. Its all sec (big 3 little 7) or formally known as big 12 but im hoping the big 3 little 12 will work to my advantage for this game and ill get it heres praying or im off to the bar mid day to get hammered as i laugh at lil brother

At least you can go to the bar to watch games

I called every sports bar in my area and they didn’t even know what the Big Ten was. I pay extra for the BTN but last week the game broadcast in my area was the PSU – YSU. I also like to catch Big 12 games but Comcast doesn’t offer any FSN channels even if you want to pay for them. I’m thinking about doing the slingbox thing on my parents cable box.

Los Angeles: The Boonies

Here I am in Los Angeles, I have TW Cable and they don’t carry the BTNetwork. Time Warner carries it in other parts of the country, from what I understand, but not here, where many midwesterners have retired—-not me: I still work. So, I have a choice of going to a bar to watch the games not on ABC, etc, and/or to join the LA Iowa Club and watch it with them. So, not tooo bad.
