Welp
I can no longer watch ESPN. The blatant polesmoking is going to get just out of hand now. I just want them to lose to Utah State. That would make me happy.

I've already sworn to myself not to watch another one.

Too bad FOX sucks so much dick
Then we might actually have a halfway-decent alternative. Was it just me, or did Herbstreit get suckered into the hype by Musberger?
You see what I did there? Yeeeaaaaaahhhh.
I honestly think
a team shouldn’t be allowed into the National Championship if they don’t play in an AQ conference. 1 or 2 games shouldn’t make a season for a team like Boise St.
Agree
But would that be an antitrust problem? I don’t really know.

I understand Boise St's argument
but in my opinion if they really want to take their football seriously and think they are good enough to be “National Champions” they must either 1) move their football team to an AQ conference or 2) petition HARD for an 8-team playoff

NCAA is the problem
Iowa would thive in a 16 team playoff. Boise…not so much.
"I wish you luck with a capital 'F'" - The Real Elvis.
Agree.
Which is why I think it is the only way Boise St could possibly prove themselves. I think winning 3 or 4 games in a row against high quality opponents is the only way to silence doubters. Given this, I dont think they could make a championship game in such a scenario which is why they shouldn’t be allowed to play in one without a playoff.

But no one will play them
Not even at home.
The only reason that Va Tech played them was for a made for TV showdown. They challenged the entire SEC to play next season and only Ole Miss agreed, and that was only because Houston Nutt used to be the head coach of BSU.
Alabama, Florida, LSU all say that we’ve got a tough enough schedule without adding BSU. On top of that, BSU, like every other big program, can’t afford to play only four home games. Even if Florida State, Alabama, Texas and USC agreed to play them, none of them are willing to go to Boise. They need the home gates just like every other college program.
I understand the complaints about the schedule, but there needs to be an acknowledgement that it’s not their fault.
This is not entirely true
Regarding Nebraska potentially scheduling Boise in 2011
Besides, the Huskers might not be able to pony up the kind of guarantee that Boise State is requesting. Athletic director Gene Bleymaier said that $900,000 to $1 million would be a fair market price for guarantee game with Boise State. According to the Florida Atlantic and Louisiana-Lafayette athletic departments, the Huskers shelled out just $650,000 and $700,000 respectively to play those teams this year. Nebraska won both games handily.
And even OBNUG notes about the potential series in 2015
Nebraska AD Tom Osborne has submitted a three-game series (two games in Lincoln, one in Boise) offer to Boise State AD Gene Bleymaier. Only problem is that Osborne offered it 2 1/2 months ago and still no reply.
If they’re going to complain about no one being willing to play them, they also need to realize that there is no advantage, neither financial nor schedule, to a team going to Boise. Will they do it, yes, potentially. But it won’t be “fair”. They need to accept that and take this sort of offer.
It never gets to be easy

That's easy to say
Boise State would move to the Pac 10 or Big 12 tomorrow if they’d get an invite. They haven’t been invited and they aren’t going to be. So it’s really silly to criticize them for not being in AQ conference. They moved up to the MWC, which is as good as they’re going to get for now.
As far as petitioning “HARD” for an 8 team playoff, what good would that do? Is Jim Delany going to say “Oh my, Boise State really, really wants a playoff. Guess we’re going to have change our stance on that.” They’ve got one vote.
If Rambler doesn't show up over here we're not going to have any disagreements....

Your avatar picture is DUMB.
Or I can just pretend that you’re all Chazz and yell at you.
"I want to be a cowboy. I don't want to be a panda. Pandas are boring, stupid and boring. Bad panda!"
Yeah!
Why would we be possibly talking about it on an Iowa football blog? I mean, it is soooooo boring! Teams only score once or twice a game!
by Franimal House on Sep 6, 2010 11:16 PM CDT up reply actions
So they score more than our basketball team did the last few years?
"I want to be a cowboy. I don't want to be a panda. Pandas are boring, stupid and boring. Bad panda!"
You're right.
I should replace it with a still from a canceled Fox show.

Only if you want to be one of the COOL kids.
(I can’t even remember what show it was from… I thought it was SIMPSONS.)

I chose to Up the Irons awhile back.
It will stay that way forever.

That's what I was going to say...
What’s going to be funnier? If Boise State loses during the regular season, or if they go undefeated and still only get a #3 ranking?
A Voice From Kinnick - A Hawkeye Blog
UNRELATED and I'm sure we talked abotu this in the other monster thread
But the ESPN ad for the Admiral Ackbar-for-Ole Miss mascot ad was FUCKING GREAT.
"I want to be a cowboy. I don't want to be a panda. Pandas are boring, stupid and boring. Bad panda!"
Rebel Nation probably would've enjoyed it more
If they didn’t self-destruct on Saturday.
A Voice From Kinnick - A Hawkeye Blog
It was really funny.
I cant believe they dont have someone to make sure stuff like that doesnt get played after a game like theirs on Saturday.

Here it is again, in all of its glory:

So now to minimize the damage...
I can pull for VT to fail repeatedly during the course of the year, rendering the whiners’ victory meaningless. As a consolation, I can accept this.
In Norm we trust.
Which they will
Every year VT is hyped to be a top 5-10 team and every year they prove that they are overrated. I see them losing at least 2 more, which just shows that BSU can beat a halfway decent BCS conference team and says nothing about beating a legitimate top 5 team.

Boise State works so hard...
And you guys just want to curse them and hold them back. It’s just not fair. Shame on all of you.
