9/29/2010-The day the sweet string music was reborn

Josh Oglesby's commitment, in more ways than one, was the beginning of the rebirth of the proud Hawkeye basketball tradition. Not only did he announce he is accepting a scholarship offer to attend the University of Iowa to play basketball, but his statement and interview reflected the source of his commitment.

He grew up loving the Hawkeye basketball team, and was really mad when the Dean Oliver and Jeff Horner led teams lost a game. He remembers how the entire region lived and died with the team (it was, after all, the top rated syndicated programming in the country for years).

He stated his belief that Iowa has enough talent to lead the Renaissance. With the recent success of the Barnstormers, hard to argue with that opinion. He went on to challenge his AAU teammates to join him, specifically mentioning Adam Woodbury first, which appears to be based on an expressed desire and intention from the big man. He also spoke of Marcus Paige; after showing due deference to the attention he is receiving from Kansas and North Carolina, he went on to urge the quick man to join the cause. Perfect tone and content.

Coach Fran is on the right track, Besabe is a quality start for the roster. The coaching staff is an ideal blend of talent, experience, program connections, and national recruiting connections.

And now Josh has got the ball rolling, so to speak, in the return of the top Iowa talent to the Hawkeye basketball roster. C'mon Adam and Marcus, help this great kid make it reality! You won't regret it, there is such a latent desire to love Iowa basketball again that the men that make it happen will be Hawkeye heroes forever.

Coach Fran and Coach Speraw and Coach Dillard and Coach Francis and Coach (video coordinator my ass) Bowen will supplement and develop that talent marvelously.

When it comes to pass, and we all are again enjoying an Iowa basketball team with a legitimate shot at the final 4 and a national championship, we can look back to 9/29/2010: the day when the commitment of one young man, in more ways than one, began the process whereby a group of coaches and players came together to:

GET CARVER ROCKIN AGAIN !
