Let's have some fun
(General concept stolen from these guys)
Predict the winners of each BCS conference. Predict the entrants in the BCS bowls. And predict the Heisman winner.
I'll say...
Big Ten - Iowa
ACC - Virginia Tech
Big 12 - Iowa State
SEC - Florida
Big East - Pittsburgh. I really don't care about the Big East, so why not?
Pac 10 - Oregon State.
BCS bowls (Note, the BCS order works like this: First the MNC game. Next the champion or an at large team from the SEC will go to the Sugar Bowl, the ACC to the Orange Bowl, the Big 12 to the Fiesta Bowl, and the Pac 10 and Big Ten to the Rose Bowl UNLESS one of their teams goes to the MNC game and a non-BCS team is elligible in which case a champion or at large team from the Pac 10 or Big Ten will play the non-BCS team. The bowl order of selection goes like so: MNC, Sugar, Orange, Fiesta.):
MNC game: Iowa vs. Boise State. Whatever.
Rose Bowl: Penn State vs. Oregon State.
Sugar Bowl: Florida vs. Oklahoma
Orange Bowl: Virginia Tech vs. Pittsburgh
Fiesta Bowl: Iowa State vs. Alabama
Heisman winner: Robert Bolden. Totally.
Scoring: Two points for each correct conference pick, one point if you correctly pick one team from a bowl game (two if you get both teams), two points for the Heisman winner.
You are free to take this seriously or as a joke. I did both.
If I have confused you or if you have questions, let me know.

So I take it
you were serious about Iowa State and joking about Alabama making a BCS Bowl?

I'll play
Big Ten – Iowa
Big XII – Oklahoma
Big East – UConn
SEC – Doesn’t matter, any of them could win the MNC.
Pac10 – Oregon State
ACC – Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (best university title, ever)
MNC – Iowa-Vandy(or whoever from the SEC is bound to win this year since all 12 of them would beat everybody from a different conference)
Rose Bowl – TCU-Oregon State
Sugar Bowl – SEC runner-up – Oklahoma
Orange Bowl – Ohio State – VPISU
Fiesta Bowl – UConn – Nebraska
Heisman – the best offensive skill position player on the SEC champion
You really took a risk on that Heisman pick...
I don’t think that’s ever happened before

I know
I was tempted to add the best offensive skill position player from the Big Ten as the runner-up, but that would defy logic.
Totally not a homer. Not at all.
Big Ten – Iowa
Big IIX – Nebraska
Big East – UConn
SEC – Alabama
Pac 10 – Oregon
ACC – VA Tech
MNC – Iowa vs. Nebraska
Rose: Oregon vs. Boise St.
Orange: VA Tech vs. UConn
Sugar: Alabama vs. Ohio St.
Fiesta: Oklahoma vs. Florida
Heisman: Adrian Clayborn

I really want to see Iowa-Nebraska in the MNC
That would really get Farmaggedon off to a rousing start in Lincoln next year. And the obvious boost to the Big Ten’s rep is a nice benefit too.
THAT NICKNAME IS ALREADY TAKEN!!
ISU vs. KU!! It doesn’t matter that nobody cares or knows!

And I'm almost sure it is ISU v. KSU, not KU.

My mistake. I guess that bolsters my "nobody cares" argument

Maybe they can have a pretty much guaranteed national audience, Saturday after Thanksgiving game
then people might care about whatever they call Farmaggedon

Ah, Rutgers... I should have known.
(Although they certainly could this year — the Big East looks as crapshoot-y as ever.)

Wouldn't TCU have to take Ohio State's Rose Bowl spot?
Since Iowa made the MNC?
by The Mexican't on Sep 3, 2010 3:17 PM CDT up reply actions
No.
The Rose Bowl would get the first pick (because Iowa would be #1 in the BCS rankings, of course) and they would select tOSU as their replacement team.
by Abbas_Cincinnatus on Sep 3, 2010 3:29 PM CDT up reply actions
Except they're not allowed to.
Because the Rose Bowl must select a non-AQ if one of their teams is taken to play in the MNC.
the Pac 10 and Big Ten to the Rose Bowl UNLESS one of their teams goes to the MNC game and a non-BCS team is elligible in which case a champion or at large team from the Pac 10 or Big Ten will play the non-BCS team.
by The Mexican't on Sep 3, 2010 3:34 PM CDT up reply actions
Anybody know what happens if a Non-AQ team makes the title game?
Say it’s Boise-OSU in the title game, and TCU finishes in the top 12. Does the Rose Bowl still have to take TCU?

I actually think
TCU is going nowhere. Florida State is my sleeper pick for the year. And I hate them.

BigTen: OSU
Big12: Oklahoma
Big East: UConn
SEC: South Carolina
Pac 10: Stanford
ACC: Miami
MNC: OSU v. Oklahoma
Rose: Stanford v. Boise State
Orange: Miami v. Alabama
Sugar: South Carolina v. Iowa
Fiesta: Nebraska v. UConn
Heisman: Landry Jones, OU
Damn you and your reasonable predictions...

I think both Miami and S.Carolina will let me down, though.
UConn is a stretch, but, as Ross noted above, the BigEast is pretty “crapshoot-y”

Yeah, USC is the only one I can't see actually happening
Garcia will eventually remember the beatdown we gave him and go fetal for the rest of the season

yeah.
his benchings usually are equal if not greater than his interception total.
by Pain in the Sash on Sep 3, 2010 4:16 PM CDT up reply actions
Reasonable? I dunno...
He has South Carolina, Stanford, and UConn… that would be 3/4 of a decent Final Four in some years, but conference champions in football? I’m just skeptical because South Carolina always manages to find a way to underachieve (they seem like the Michigan State of the SEC), Stanford has no defense (and no Albino Rhino), and UConn… well, I picked ’em, but I have no particular faith in them over West Virginia or Cincinnati or, hell, Rutgers.
