Albert Young Interview

Hey Hawkeyes Nation,

I wanted to share with you an interview I had with former Iowa running back, Albert Young

This was actually my first interview I had with a player over the phone, so I'm sorry, I didn't think about recording it for you to listen to. But, I learned from that.

Here is the link: http://prointerviews.org/2010/04/13/albertyoung/

I hope you share your thoughts and comments on the interview here, and thank you for letting me share it!

Pretty simple interview

Couple of repeat questions (or at least questions that yielded repeat answers).

Seemed scripted on your part (and I don’t blame you. A phone interview can be a bit tough).

Depending on how much time you have, etc, a couple suggestions for future interviews…

1) Record it. Not just to post it along with the story, if you want, but to have the ability to go back and make corrections or catch something you might have missed. But remember to ask the interviewee if it is okay to record it.

2) Going back to the ‘scripted’ thing, plan out fewer ‘major’ questions, and try to get the interviewee to expand upon them. For example with the “Favorite Sport to Play” question, Albert Young said basketball…but he plays football for a living. Why is that? Or he says if he wasn’t playing football, he’d be playing baseball. Why?

Make it more of a conversation, than an ‘interview’.

Again, it depends on the player or person you’re interviewing, how much time you have to talk to them, etc.

Yeah, definitely.

On my other audio interviews, I actually have the recording, like Isaiah Ekejiuba’s and Mike Pettine, and Demetrius Byrd.

Mike Pettine was by far a great interviewee to have (The Jets D Coordinator) Check that out, and see how I improved since I started my site, lol, but thank you so much for the reply, really appreciate it :)

I definitely like your points and thank you so much.
