Ive heared that Angerer and Moeaki are two of the bigger suprises of the year

but how are they all the iowa rookies doing in the NFL now? i dont watch the NFL so i have no idea other then what i see here.

Bulaga is the Packers' utility man on the left side

It looked like he might supplant Colledge at LG in the preseason. Then he replaced Clifton (who is not playing very well) at LT in game 2 and played very well. Now that Clifton and Colledge are both dinged up, he may start on Monday if either is unable to, or he may come off the bench when Clifton starts getting used and abused by Peppers. He’s doing really well and looks promising as GB’s LT of the future.

And now Bulaga is rewarded with stopping Julius Peppers on National TV

Welcome to the NFL!

Perhaps my best years are gone... but I wouldn't want them back. Not with the fire in me now. No, I wouldn't want them back.

Edds out for year with ACL

Calloway cut by Buffalo. Don’t really know about the rest. Bulaga’s doing ok, I guess.

I think Spievey forced a turnover in the MIN-DET game today.

And not a rookie, but Fletcher and an interception for the Rams today.

Bryan Mattison

I saw recently that he was with the Ravens (practice squad, maybe?). He’d been moved to the offensive line, which I thought was interesting. I can’t think of another player who’s made that switch at the NFL level.

Except it was this Godfrey

Less memorable than Sam Okey's Hawkeye career.

by Kyle McCann't on Sep 27, 2010 6:36 PM CDT up reply actions

Godfrey's actually leading the NFL in interceptions (3) right now.

Not too shabby.

It was good to see Spievey make a play ...

then I felt sad to see him in a Lions jersey.

Moeaki appears to be one of Cassel's favorite targets.

If he can avoid the injury bug, he may just have a monstrous year.

by The Mexican't on Sep 26, 2010 9:36 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah

Moeaki is really benefiting from Cassel’s overall lack of skill. He loves throwing easy check downs to his tight ends

…Cassel’s overall lack of skill.

Better than the lack of skill of the whole team, as has been the case in recent years, right?

Mitch King saw some snaps today along the Indy defensive line.

I’m not sure he saw any action last year, so 2010 may technically be his rookie year.

by The Mexican't on Sep 26, 2010 9:38 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah, I saw him in the game and on the sideline. He's got the long hair back, too.

Didn’t notice Angerer — did he play?

by RossWB on Sep 26, 2010 10:09 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm not sure. I only caught about 10 minutes of the game.

And I’m not even sure that I saw King play a down. I only knew he made the field because the announcing team was discussing him.

by The Mexican't on Sep 26, 2010 10:47 PM CDT up reply actions

I saw him on the field for a few plays, so he got a little run with the defense.

by RossWB on Sep 27, 2010 12:09 AM CDT up reply actions

King played a pretty fair amount

Indy seems to have settled into a 4 man DT rotation with Fili Moala, Dan Muir, Antonio Johnson and Mitch King. Also Mitch King appears to be growing the flowing locks back.

He was really blatantly held (uncalled) on the Broncos one touchdown and the one time the Broncos actually got flagged for all their holding, it was because a guard flat out tackled King.

Angerer is pretty much stuck on special teams

I have yet to see him in on defense, but I see flying around on special teams

by White Lightning on Sep 26, 2010 10:57 PM CDT up reply actions

yeah, it looks like Indy is having him focus on learning to be a Tampa-2 MLB (much deeper coverage drop than he had at Iowa)

before they start any work on OLB or playing alongside MLB Gary Brackett in the nickel.

Angerer did beast in the 3rd preseason game after Brackett got hurt early.

Speaking of long hair, Gallery was in a Raiders tshirt on the sideline

Really long, all bearded up, he’s got tattoo sleeves now and earrings… if he wasn’t playing for the Raiders you’d swear he’s in a motorcycle gang. Apparently out this week with a hamstring injury.

Saw Kroul on the Jets sideline tonight.

Not sure if he got in the game.

He did get in a nice scuffle during one of the Hard Knocks shows.

Is he? Good for him!

The Jets have been coming up as one of my “second favorites” since they drafted Shonn and because Rex is such a fun-to-watch coach. Guess I need to be paying more attention.

I'm happy for Tony Mo and all...

But usually at this time of year, the Chiefs are 1-2 and I’m already looking to next year. It’s just nice to see them win again. Here’s to Tony staying healthy and to Philip Rivers playing like Ryan Leaf.

Definitely Bittersweet

for me too as I’m a huge 49er fan, but I love seeing ex-Iowa players do well and get some recognition. I figure it can only help the Hawks stay relevant in the world of recruiting

Meoaki's a Mormon?

At least he’ll now be able to afford his 4 wives.

by the_iowa_hawkeye on Sep 26, 2010 9:41 PM CDT reply actions

I'm fairly certain.

IIRC, one of the questions during his recruitment was whether he’d take his pilgrimage while in college or if he’d wait. Since he didn’t take it during college, I asked Mas Casa about it before the draft. I believe Tony’s response was that he isn’t certain when he’ll take it, but he definitely does plan to go.

The same questions arose when Moeaki’s cousin, Stanley Havili, was coming out of HS. I haven’t heard anything about Havili taking his either.

by The Mexican't on Sep 26, 2010 10:51 PM CDT up reply actions

I suspect the pilgrimmage will wait until like, the NFL is over. LOL

Pilgrimage?

I think you are talking about a two year “mission.” The door is all but closed for him to go on a mission since the age limit is 26; and it is not required that he go in the first place. At this point I doubt he’ll go at all.

It escaped me last night and I didn’t feel like looking further into it.

Isn’t that English for Hajj?

It should make more than just the weekly highlight reel

Probably will make some sort of annual NFL highlight reel. That catch was out and out absurd. I’ll bet they could throw that 100 times in practice and Tony would never make the catch… that’s how these things work.
