KF locked down until 2020!
ESPN is reporting that Kirk Ferentz will be in Iowa City through 2020. This means that we have atleast that many more years of NFL rumors. Hooray! 2020 seems like a LONG ways off...but just think of how many Big Ten (XII) Northwest Divisional championships we'll have at that point times we'll have been fisted by the Big Ten (XII) Southwest Division by then!!!
We should have flying cars by then, too, right?!?

Too much awesomeness in one day: CFB season starts and we are guaranteed 10 more years of our beloved Coach.
MY HEAD A-SPLODE!!!
ps...i know this broke in the opening night of CFB thread, just wanted to un-bury it for everyone else...

Right on!
Ferentz, entering his 12th season as Iowa’s HC, is currently the 2nd longest tenured head coach at Iowa behind Hayden Fry, who had 20. If he stays through 2020 or longer, he’ll be the longest tenured Iowa HC. Would he ever leave for another job? Would he coach into his 80s like JoePa? Will he replace JoePa? Will he win a national championship? at Iowa? I love Kirk Ferentz as Iowa’s coach. I like how he represents Iowa, and hope he only leaves for retirement.
Kirk Ferentz will replace Joe Paterno at Penn State.
I personally guarantee this.

And if he doesn't?
It's not that I'm lazy, Bob, it's that I just don't care
"we are guaranteed 10 more years"
In this day and age, a contract/extension is worth only slightly more than the paper it’s printed on.
That being said, Ferentz isn’t Meyer/Saban/Kiffin, etc, and I can’t see him wanting to coach anywhere else at this point. This should certainly help from a recruiting standpoint though.
Here’s to hoping we see Ferentz roaming the Iowa sidelines for as long as he wants to!

Are you the guy who...
corrects everyone else’s grammar mid-sentence?
"Next week's no good for me. The Jonas Brothers are in town."
Not at all
I’m just saying that in this day and age, with all the coaching changes that happen every year, that a contract extension doesn’t “guarantee” anything anymore. There are 120 FBS schools in the country. Ferentz is one of only eight that have been at the same school since 1999 or earlier.
That being said, Ferentz is one of the least likely to leave before his contract is over, unless other circumstances lead to his departure.

Mmm, panini
"I want to be a cowboy. I don't want to be a panda. Pandas are boring, stupid and boring. Bad panda!"
I assume those photos are metaphors
Obviously the train one is for Danny Hope. The sandwich one… has gotta be for Bret Bilema (he looks like a dude who enjoys a good cheesy panini). And of course Abe Simpson is definitely Joe Paterno (ya know… because they’re old dudes).
Going, going, going, going, going, going, going, going.... Alright, I'll stop for now.
