Pollsters are silly

As we all know, Virginia Tech was embarrassed this weekend, losing 21-16 to D1-AA/FCS James Madison University.  Virginia Tech, ranked in the top 10 in both polls to start the season, gets beat in close games against James Mad and Boise State, and the pundits on TWWL start talking about the transitive properties, that the loss to JMU somehow proves that, hey waitaminnit, maybe BSU isn't that great.

I was kind of enjoying the punditry and lunacy of it all until I saw something horrifying this AM, skimming over the writers' poll.

Others receiving votes: Pittsburgh 62, Fresno State 48, Air Force 46, California 45, Georgia 42, Florida State 41, Missouri 37, Georgia Tech 35, Clemson 25, North Carolina 23, Texas A&M 18, Texas Tech 17, Michigan State 15, James Madison 11, Kansas State 10, Oklahoma State 10, Maryland 6, East Carolina 4, Nevada 2, Baylor 1, Boston College 1, North Carolina State 1, Northwestern 1

Wait a minute.... what?  I looked again.

Sure enough, there it is.  A FCS school in a BCS schools' poll.  Those wacky writers.
