There has been something that has been gnawing at me for a while, and I think its time to air it out.  We throw around the term Midwest without giving it much thought.  I've heard everyone from Nevada to Pennsylvania at some point described as the Midwest.   Lets first agree with Wikipedia, that the following map represents the current Midwest.

But this still seems vague to me.  I mean, if there is a midwest, shouldn't there be a mideast?  Yes there should.  So from here on out, I propose that we split the region down the middle using the Mississippi.  We refer to all states currently in the midwest region that are east of the Mississippi as Middle Eastern states.  This means if you are from Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, or Indiana you must tell people that you are from the Mideast.  In addition to being more specific, this plan will allow us to make thousands of insensitive Muslim jokes.
