Vegas Odds

I've been meaning to get over to Vegas to make my annual bet on the Hawks winning the BCS Championship. Checked about three months ago, odds were 25 to 1 at most sports book.

Couldn't get away from LA so asked a friend who is there right now if he'd put a C-note down for me. Just got off the phone with him. He got the bet down.

At 8 to 1!

Eight to One! I realize that has nothing to do with which team Vegas  thinks will win or lose but it does indicate a whole lot of people, including professional gamblers, are, well... you know.

8 TO 1!!!

Betting was probably getting to heavy on one side of the line.

There's no...

side of the line on this bet. Every BCS eligible school in the country is on a laundry list with posted odds that that team will take it all. The odds drop if betting is heavy. Like I said, three months ago Iowa was 25 to 1 to take it all.

That's what my thought process was, but not how it came to me in words.

I was in Vegas for March Madness and I got 30-1 at Imperial Palace

It’s also worth noting that Illinois was 500-1, which seems like it’s missing a couple of zero’s.

Can I bet $500 on Illinois

to win $1? That just seems like a free dollar to me…now I just got to find a way to come up with $500. I have a Stroh’s Light baseball cap that I’d be willing to sell…any takers?

Are you sure?!

I saw your post a couple weeks ago and freaked out because a friend told me it was 18-1 the day before… I went on Thursday, 8/5 and it was still 18-1…. Sure would have loved to have gotten that 30-1 in April! Dang! On that note… GO HAWKS!
