HEADLINE: "PTL a slam dunk for May"
WHOA, WHERE ARE THEY GOING WITH THIS CRYPTIC HEADLINE?:
Eric May wants to accomplish at least two things every time he plays in the Prime Time League. In addition to winning, May wants to put on a show for the fans. He did both Sunday in spectacular fashion. The high-flying Iowa Hawkeye entertained a capacity crowd at the North Liberty Community Center with several rim-rattling dunks while leading L.L. Pelling Company/Goodfellow Printing to a 99-72 victory over George Etre Inc./Culver's of Coralville in the semifinals of the Prime Time League playoffs.

I know it's fun to pick on Pharty . . .
But as a reporter myself, I feel honor-bound to point out that it is generally copy editors – those strange creatures that eschew sunlight and interaction with humanity – that typically write the groan-inducing pun headlines.
This is true...
…I remember from four years of High School newspaper staff and two years as Kirkwood’s Photo Editor (I was forced into being a copy editor many times through those six years). But that’s what happens when someone turns in a shitty article with next to no time to edit it- – you get the stupidest, most obvious groan-inducing headlines (often just to spite the writer for not thinking of something better and/or on-time).
