Around SBN: Is Adebayor About To Become A Full-Time Spur?

Per the WWL, Jeff Brinson received a hardship waiver from the NCAA today, clearing him to play at UCF starting next year. The waiver was granted in light of a family member suffering from a severe illness.

As always, while we're bummed that Brinson wasn't able to make anything of his Iowa career, we wish him and his family the best of luck there and thereafter.

Good luck, Jeff!

I watch UCF football when nothing else is on since I live in Orlando and know lots of people who are UCF grads (most of our interns). I hope things work out well for him.

Hope it works out for him there.

And hope the family illness thing gets cleared up swiftly and satisfactorily.

Really good to see

As others have said, I really hope things work out for him

I wish him well, but......

I am pretty tired of all this hardship crap. Either there is a rule or there isn’t. The criteria for deciding who gets the waiver and who doesn’t is ridiculously arbitrary.

Life is hard. It's really hard if you're stupid.

Does it seem like Iowa is the only school that has hardship transfers out? I’m not suggesting the recent examples are unwarranted. However, between these guys and the hoopyballer getting released from his LOI to play at Madison, it gives the impression bloodpunch isn’t quite as bloodpunchy as we give him credit for. Not that this isn’t the right thing to do.

I don't have a problem with it...

You can let a kid that’s homesick and doesn’t want to be there waste away on the depth chart, and probably not perform up to snuff in class, or let him go where he feels he can have more success. Shouldn’t even be a choice for the person granting or disallowing them.

"Ridiculously arbitrary"?

Jake Kelly: dead parent, moves close to family.
Tyler Smith: dying parent, moves close to family.
Jeff Brinson: severely ill relative (I’m assuming one he’s very close to), moves close to family.

Many, many other transfers from Iowa in same period: no dying relatives, no hardship waivers.

I don’t see what the gripe is here.

I got more rhymes than Wade Lookingbill's got dunks

I think this is a much better outcome for him than

South Florida would have been. Glad for him. USF has like 10 RBs and will be crazy team this year in the aftermath of the coaching ouster.
