BLACK HEART GOLD PODCAST 29: THE JAMIE POLLARD ROAD TRIP DIGEST

We should have registered Festivatracker.com
After a three-week break, the podcast returns to discuss Iowa State's decision to hire Fred Hoiberg as head coach with CrossCyed of SBN ISU blog Clone Chronicles. It's reflective. It's insightful. Most of all, it's revelatory; did you know Jamie Pollard drove to Shasta, MN to pick up The Mayor? You do now, thanks to BHGP!

I always thought Jamie would've been more of a Corvette kinda guy
You know, a car that says "fuck you" but at the same time “I’m totally compensating for something.”
A Voice From Kinnick - A Hawkeye Blog
You feel ancient?
YOU FEEL ANCIENT? What do you think that those of us who were at Iowa when Hoiberg was playing.
Damn kids. Get off my lawn.

It never gets to be easy
Nobody wants to know...
what a Jamie Pollard road trip was like.
Nobody.
NOBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I've sentenced boys younger than you to the gas chamber. Didn't want to do it. I felt I owed it to them.

Frankly, I'm just amazed that the ISU AD has enough in the budget for a Ford Festiva.
Must have been from the unequal revenue sharing they got from the Iowa-ISU football game all those years…
"I want to be a cowboy. I don't want to be a panda. Pandas are boring, stupid and boring. Bad panda!"
Why is
Pollard sitting on the passenger side?
"The possibility of physical and mental collapse is now very real. No sympathy for the Devil, keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride." HST
Maybe he thought the Festiva was manufactured in England.

He drives with his mind.
He’s already demonstrated that he’s a super genius. Driving from the passenger seat is one of his “powers.”

CLEARLY...
He’s got a dwarf driver.
Master of the convoluted IOWA cheers!

He's not driving.
He drove to that spot and parked, but the driver’s side door is busted so you have to get out from the passenger side.
Clearly, you’ve never owned a Festiva.
Before you respond, let me remind you: Brian Cook called me smug, which makes me the Obama of smugness. I'm basically Smugbama.

Fixed
Clearly, you’ve never owned a Festiva experienced a degree of success in your life..

It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

Looks like it's
really choice, because that’s double posting of the highest class. But good use of a FBDO reference.

Yeah,
I really messed up with the double. I clicked it and it said “try again later”, so that might have been part of the problem.

Or it could be that you posted 4 pictures of a hatchback without attempting a joke
I’m not sayin’. I’m just sayin’.

I'd say as far as attempts go
that’s successful (albeit unintentional).

The joke...
was that you can find four pictures of souped-up Festivas on google.
The smallest cars I’ve owned have been a two-door Chevy Cavalier, and a four door Honda Accord. So I feel like I can make fun of Festiva owners/drivers.

You need to live in a neighborhood full of Asian gangs
before you truly get to enjoy the phenomenon of tiny souped-up cars in their full glory.

Can I just...
live in my neighborhood, and NOT truly enjoy tiny souped-up cars in all their glory?
Because if not, I’m pretty sure I’ll end up like this guy:

I've sentenced boys younger than you to the gas chamber. Didn't want to do it. I felt I owed it to them.

Forgive me.
That reference is too old for me.
But if you see me in my pickup, it probably looks like this:

I thought about...
putting in a comment that said “I’m the one wearing the shirt.”
However, it is nice to see my inattention to detail did not go unpunished.
Jerk.
Not really :)

I don't know why I should be surprised
but when I began the podcast I never anticipated hearing a reference to Fred Hoiberg’s pubes.
