Iowa Baseball Beats Ranked Kansas
Sure, Kansas is just at the bottom of the polls, but for a program like Iowa's (think the basketball team this year, but over a 20 year period) this is very encouraging. The best news is it wasn't even a Hippen (one of the most underrated aces in the Big Ten). I think the Hawkeyes have a good shot to make the Big Ten Tourney this season, and this is just one step towards that goal.

Hippen did fine in his start. He didn’t have very good stuff but he worked the strike zone and made the Jayhawks swing their bats. I was surprised to see he only threw 96 pitches when the box score came out. I thought he was up around 110-120. He gave up a lot of hits but did not give in to the batters and gave the Hawkeyes almost seven innings.
Schrieber won the second game. I can’t say why. I think KU’s batters were not comfortable in the batters box, but I think that might have had to do as much with poor umpiring as it did with Schrieber. Of all the Iowa pitchers I think Kevin Lee looked the best. He only pitched one inning all weekend but he was getting nice cutting action on his fastball.
www.rockchalktalk.com for pretty good KU baseball coverage
