Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

"Probably not enough has been said about Albert Young. Albert Young is a guy that has developed here tremendously in the last two years" -- Brad Childress (The comments were made in reference to Young possibly moving up to #2 for the Vikings with the departure of Chester Taylor and inability to sign Tomlinson.

He has potential

It is look more and more like he will be the #2 RB for the Vikings.

He’s been on the field briefly so I don’t really know that much about Young. However what I have seen makes me believe that he will do well.

How was he as a college RB?

Yep.

That was his best year; his 2004 was cut short by a knee injury and he was slowed down in 2006 and 2007 by various nagging injuries and inconsistent offensive line (and quarterback) play. I liked him a lot and was always sad that he never got to enjoy a really good Iowa team in his time here.

He’s definitely not a speedster, but I always thought he had decent enough wheels and was a pretty tough runner with good instincts. I thought we badly under-utilized him in the passing game, too — he has/had good hands and should’ve been used more out of the backfield. I’m not sure how well he’ll do against front-line NFL talent — he looked solid in brief glimpses last year, but that was in garbage minutes or preseason games, mainly — but I’m definitely rooting for him to do well.

If I recall correctly

He’s rather similar to Shonn Greene, albeit a little smaller. Physical runner, excellent balance, good but not phenomenal wheels, solid blocker. Has good field vision, and rarely goes down on first contact.

Yeah

He’s a power runner in a speedy back’s body. Definitely has the cutback ability and vision to get through the mess before the second level, and has strong legs, but isn’t going to outrun the secondary to the endzone often. Great balance and agility and will fight for yards. A valid option in the passing game too.

I doubt he has the ability to hold up for a season as a featured back, but as a reliever at #2, he’ll shine.
