Iowa 27, Missouri 24: The Game in Pictures
(Ed. Note: We should probably bump this one last time for 2010. Happy New Year's Eve, all -- thanks for making 2010 fun, even when the games themselves just brought pain. Here's to an even better 2011 -- Ross)
After the close of the season and the offseason issues thus far, it feels good to come back and get a win.
Pictures, as always, courtesy of Hawk Central.
Without further ado, then:
May the offseason be short and injury-free. Go Hawks.

Perfect
As always. Thank you to this group of Hawkeyes for all the memory’s good and bad!
i don't wife em...i one night em
Since Iowa and Iowa State have won the last two Insight Bowls
they should just merge the two schools’ trophies to replace the Cy-Hawk. It would look like sperm cells racing to an egg.
Less memorable than Sam Okey's Hawkeye career.

It looks like a fish jumping and turning into a football
They should create a football/fishing crossover show and put it on Versus at 2am, then award that thing to the winner. Something along the lines of the old Timbersports or strongman shows they used to have on ESPN. I’d watch.

It has been waaaay too long since we've had the pleasure of game in pics.
Well done.

I've missed these too.
That is all.

Arrest free would be nice, but extremely unlikely
I’d guess that any random sample of 80 or so male undergrads on this campus will produce at least one alcohol related arrest in any given semester. So let’s not freak out when somebody gets an OWI, PAULA (hopefully not so many now with 21+), or public intox (more likely walking home in the ‘hood from a bumpin’ houseparty).
Yes
I’m totally fine with no drugs or violence on this offseason’s police blotter. Then again, that means that KOKaine’s secret grow house doesn’t get raided, which I’m not in favor of. A major drug raid could be the only thing that ever costs him his job.
It's been said before
but an OWI is worse than possession of weed. Let’s not throw that in there as just “standard”
I spent half my life's earnings on wine, women & song. The other half I wasted.
by therealCatnuts on Dec 31, 2010 9:39 AM CST up reply actions
Ok, if they HAVE to do dumb things and get busted,
can we keep it to public intox and PAULA’s and avoid drug houses, OWI’s, assaults (of any kind), shit like that?
I'll stand by it as "standard"
because what we’re dealing with isn’t a case of what’s worse in the eyes of the law, it’s what’s worse in the court of public opinion. If the public objectively looked at what the more serious criminal charge was and then responded accordingly, it would be a different situation.
Let’s be honest, while an OWI is a more serious charge (and more egregious IMO), there will be more fallout over ARob’s possession charge than Binns’ OWI.
What sound does a safety make when he's trucked by an Iowa RB?
Duong!
America, you're looking good: handsome, free and tall.

Yep
I like it. That’s definitely the new sound effect.
It never gets to be easy.
Why the fuck doesn't it ever get to be easy?

"GO HAWKS!" - only cure for Hawkeye Envy
if you don't know, now you know
I couldn't see one whole half of the upper deck from my seats...
but Mizzou did seem to bring a nice amount of fans. Probably not as many as Iowa, but the hotel that I stayed at (about a half mile from the stadium) seemed to have an equal amount of Hawk fans and Mizzou fans, or maybe even in slight favor for Mizzou.
Of course, this was a bit of a “let-down” for us, so perhaps that had an effect on it.

There might have been less Hawk fans
because many of the diehards had already gone down to Arizona already this year for the Iowa game vs Arizona earlier in the year.
Good point.
Although, I know about ten of us who were at the Insight, and were not at the game in Tucson.
Also, it seems like this time of year might have made it easier for retirees/snowbirds to be in Arizona.
But still, you may be correct.
On a side note, I just want to say that Scottsdale seemed really nice. I didn’t explore too much else of Phoenix or Tempe or Mesa, but I’m sure they are nice too. If I had a few million bucks to throw around, I’d consider owning a home in the Phoenix area, perhaps Scottsdale.

Thank you seniors
no one who posts here can know the time, effort and dedication it takes to play D-1 ball. You took the field every week as a competitive and dangerous team for 4 years. You kept our program in the national discussion. Living in Ohio I know the respect you have from one of the most spoiled fan bases on earth. tOSU fans do get nervous everytime we play them. You’ve provided us a great diversion from the arid drudgery that is our day to day lives. I hope the best for all of you. God Bless.
Underclassmen – thank you, too. But it’s time to unleash penitentiary style retribution on Nebraska and the rest of the Legends.

Well put and I totally agree.
Just don’t call it legends/leaders….can we come up with “For the time being” names for the divisions on here? Even completely arbitrary names like “chair” and “banana”? I’d be okay with that…

The "We have some bowl winners" division and the "We don't" division?
So what if I tailgate to the NPR jazz station?
Sounds good...
except Iowa and Illinois are in separate divisions.

How much padding does Gabbert wear?
He looks like a manitee…
by bornofclay on Jan 1, 2011 2:18 PM CST via mobile reply actions
A manatee with rectangular protrusions.
He is obviously wearing a 360degree pad around his midsection.
I've really enjoyed these this year. Thank you for taking the time.
I really think Iowa plays its very best with its back against the wall and with everyone saying “They won’t win”. We need to cultivate the no respect more than we do, because lets face it – we could undefeated for the next 10 years, and the first game we lose, people would say “Well, they’re just Iowa, what did you expect? That they’d keep winning forever?”
Guess what?! I got a fever, and the only prescription...is more cowbell!!
