I'm still a proud Hawkeye and I know you all are too. I just got done reading the game threads (I don't know how you all can watch and type at the same time, I'm going bat-shit just watching the game) and there was some serious venom on there. I know we all take the losses differently and have different ways of expressing it. But holy shit gang, we have to take a step back and maybe get a little perspective.
And in case anyone thinks that I didn't take this loss hard, immediately after the game, my only thought was that I wanted everyone at Northwestern University to get cancer and die. After a couple of hours of cooling off (and shoveling snow) I backed off that position and only wanted Pat Fitzgerald to get cancer and die. That's where I still am by the way.
Look, we are all disappointed the way this season has gone. We all had Pasadena in our sights (if not Glendale) and now we'll be lucky to make Tampa. There are a couple of schools of thought here. One, we could be thankful that we are not Iowa State fans (who really need a miracle to even make a bowl game this year) or hell Minnesota fans for that matter. They haven't even played in January for 50 fucking years. Or we could be thankful that this isn't 2007, where we lose to OMHR by double digits and don't even make a bowl game.
Or better yet we can be Hawkeye fans. We can exhalt in our victories and cringe at our defeats. But we never stop supporting the team, win or lose, and we never stop wearing our Tigerhawks proudly.
I'll have an Iowa tie on in the office on Monday, and I will take a lot of shit about this loss today. But I don't care. There are still games to be played. And won.
So let the haters hate. Let the sniveling bitches snipe at us about the losses we've suffered.
We've got a game to win next Saturday against Ohio State.
