Shakespearean Opponents: Northwestern Wildcats

[Bumped. You're a good one, Lukateake.--AJ]

"A Midsummer Night's Dream"

Pat Fitzgerald: Oberon, The Fairy King
Pat Fitzgerald: Titania, The Fairy Queen
Pat Fitzgerald: Robin Badfellow / Fuck / Knobgobblin'
Pat Fitzgerald: Nick AssBottom
Pat Fitzgerald: Francis SkinFlute
The Wildcats: Peaseblossom, Cobweb, Moth and Mustardseed

The parallels are striking to Iowans -- who aren't above a little name calling -- conversant in the Bard.

The Fairy King Oberon (Fitzgerald) -- and not the excellent eponymous beer -- is in a kerfuffle with his queen, Titania (also Fitzgerald), about some fairy bullshit like unicorns and wildcats, moonbeams and stardust. And (bizarrely) a young Indian boy who aced his MCAT and would make a 21st century Doogie Howser fine addition to the Feinberg School of Medicine).

Oberon engages his spritely servant Puck (again, Fitzy) who ultimately bungles up the king's diabolical plan (and by "diabolical" I really mean "whimsical" since we're talking about a fairy king here).

Please add to the story in the comments because this is one of the Bard's most beloved plays and the Shakespearean Opponents series belongs to us all.

GO HAWKS!
