Here's the plan for Saturday.
PRE-GAME: 9:00am sharp, Merkle's. 3516 N. Clark Street, Chicago
They don't open any sooner than that and finding decent tailgating spots around the stadium proper was a bitch and a half. Fortunately, Merkle's is a legit Iowa bar with a good reputation among Chicago-area Hawkeye fans. I'm told it's easy for out-of-towners to find/get to as it's very close to Wrigley Field. It's also just two blocks form the Addison Red Line stop on the L, which translates to about a 35/40 min train ride to Ryan Field. So pre-gaming will, sadly, be a bit limited.
THE GAME: 11:00am, Ryan Field.
It will look like this, only with Iowa fans filling all the empty seats. So hooray for that. It's apparently the first sellout jNW has had for a non-Ohio State, non-Michigan game since 1997. No, really. The BHGP bloc of seats is in the
North South end zone (whichever end zone has the seats). Everyone should have their tickets or has made arrangements with me to pick them up; shoot me an email (bhgp.rosswb-at-gmail.com) if that's not the case.
POST-GAME: 2:30/3:00ish (whenever the game is done), Merkle's.
We may have to play this by ear and change plans since by mid-afternoon, things may have picked up and be pretty busy. If so, we'll make new plans after we get to Merkle's. But we'll try and hang out there for a little bit after the game.
If you're looking for us, Patrick will be the impossibly tall dude in the Stanzi is the Manzi shirt. I'll be the shorter dude with the hobo beard in the #7 Iowa jersey. Jacobi, Stoops, and HFMR will be with us only in spirit.
