We need a Northwestern photoshop thread

The photoshop is the ultimate tool in the mockery and dehumanization of our evil opponents. This week that evil nemesis of freedom is Northwestern (ed. note: just Northwestern -- get the lingo right, Rambler)! I hate those guys!

Anyway, it's already Wednesday! We've wasted so much of the week. So many hours, so many minutes not spent doing photoshops.

I've seen your work before. HFMR, Kluginator, McCann't, and so forth and so on.

Paint.net

is an awesome free photoshop. But Paint itself rocks as well.

Sadly, Mr. McCann’t can’t run it on a Mac.

I have an old OS because this is an ancient Mac.

It won’t load any of the currently available versions of Gimp unless I update my OS which I refuse to do because it will cause me to lose over 3000 CDs worth of music on my iTunes for reasons to annoying to go into here.

I've never had any issues

Step 1: Network computers
Step 2: Drag music folder onto new computer
Step 3: Drag music folder into iTunes window
Step 4: Watch iTunes import music
Step 5: Profit!

Hell, you can even use a crossover ethernet cable and just connect the two computers directly

I just bought a mac mini recently and that’s how I did it. Worked flawlessly. Fast transfer rate, and no network hassles either!

So what happens if it's an old work computer

or an old computer that won’t anymore, and thus you can’t connect the two computers? I ended up saving songs on an external hard drive and then was able to import them into the new computer, but my fiance is still unable to do this (but I think this is more of not being able to have two different iTunes accounts on the same computer).

Everyone is very helpful

except it’s not iTunes itself that is causing me problems. My brother gave me this Mac specifically to house all my music and nothing more (yes, I know all about external hard drives; mine crashed…literally…as in my kids knocked it off the desk and broke it) as my PC is weird and inexplicably erased all my music on several occasions. There’s really a million different conditions that make my predicament annoying but the takeaway is this: I need a graphics editor that will work with a 7-year old Mac and that doesn’t need a newer operating system.

So I'm assuming you at least have some version of OS X

Any idea what version? There’s a handy little shareware program that comes with a 30-day free trial called GraphicConverter that’s been around FOREVER. I definitely used it 7 years ago, and before that. I’m willing to bet you can still find the version that came out for 10.2 (10.3? 10.1?), or one that’s compatible with that generation. That will let you draw and do basic photoshop and, uh, convert graphics to your heart’s content.

Well, if you have a computer that won't work anymore...

but you want to get the stuff off the hard drive, they have those neat things called hard drive enclosures. You put the hard drive in it, hook it up via usb to the computer that works and transfer the files ya want. Sometimes it can be a pain, other times it is easy.
