Rant about Hawks sports coverage in Chicago

As a Hawkeye alum (86) all I have to say is thank God for Big Ten Network and the fact that the Hawkeyes have been ranked for several years so the games are broadcast here in Chicago.  If I had to rely on the newspapers for any actual info I would be screwed.

This really bugs me because it is always nice to read the stats etc. in the Sunday paper but we can't have that because the metro newspapers suck and we wouldn't want to take away from the 1/2 to full page in the sports section that friggin Notre Dame gets every week even though they are mediocre at best.  This week both ND and Iowa were on at night so there is no excuse about the late game.  In the Chicago Tribune today, thee only mention of the Iowa vs PS game at all was a recap of the top 25.  Not even a box score even though this is the heart of Big 10 country.  But there right in the heart of the sports page is our precious Irish with a half a page.  I wanted to puke.

I know there is a significant percentage of current students and alumnus who live in the Chicago suburbs so you would think a major newspaper center would be a little clued in.  No such luck.

Maybe I can subscribe to the Daily Iowan.   LOL.

Anyway, I am just glad I get to see the games on satellite when they aren't on the major broadcast.

Go Hawks!

Go Hawks!
