Guys, come on. There's a difference between being a bad football coach and a violently unstable asshole.

What trophy was there to steal?

Floyd is safe at home in Iowa and he definitely doesn’t have the axe.

by Hank Thrasher on Oct 21, 2010 8:40 PM CDT via mobile reply actions

He does have

a fake mNCG trophy somewhere in the bowels of TCF allegedly. Unless I’m mistaken that would be the only trophy case that wasn’t empty.

That may be my favorite thing Brewster ever did.

There are a number of legitimate National Championship trophies in the complex, and Brewster goes out and has a fake BCS title trophy made.

Absolutely pathetic.

Everyone fails. The successful learn from their failures. I just wish we'd quit giving ourselves so many learning opportunities.

by WhiteSpeedReceiver on Oct 22, 2010 9:13 AM CDT up reply actions

Pathetic?

Maybe for you, WSR. For Brewster, there’s a subtle perfection in everything he does. He’s got his own standards, his own way.

In the reality

where he was undefeated this year, he probably won a couple.

I’m glad I can’t see that reality.

It never gets to be easy

Boo!

Boo! I want to believe that story, Adam! And so do you! And so do you! Just imagine weepy Brewster. “Fight try fight go Gophers! [smashes case] I tried! I tried! HARD WIN EXCELLENCE TREMENDOUS GO ON MIDWEST CRIME SPREE!”

At least through Nov 27, 2010.

Because he’s definitely still on the hook for any further futility from Minnesota this year.

It's a sad world we live in . . .

where a man who was hired partially because of his deep passion would be outcast from his career forever for something like breaking a trophy case (something that would be heat of the moment done by someone understandably not thinking clearly) . . . while at the same time the sort of fuckbag reporter who would invent/pass along such a reputation-destroying rumor without checking it out will keep his job forever.

Neither is acceptable, but the reporter is waaay more in the wrong than (hypothetical) trophy-smashing Brewster

I heard he knocked up a secretary before he left town.

You guys over here

sure love you some Brewster, eh? i’m laughing my ass off so hard at your repetitive skewering of Timmy.

His ability to take decently talented Gopher teams and drive them into the ground shall be sorely missed!

Reusse

writes for the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. He used to write for the St. Paul Pioneer-Press about 20 years ago. There is no Minneapolis Pioneer-Press as far as I know.

Just think -

Tim could still be employed right now…

Does Reusse have an editor?

And if the job is open can I apply? it doesn’t appear you really have to do anything.

He may not have stolen the trophy

But he did steal alot of money. Based on the premise that coaching is a results based profession.

If true, it’d be absolute professional suicide; nobody would want to hire a coach who can’t even handle being fired without exacting vandalistic revenge on university property.

Wasn’t Rodriguez accused of destroying official records at WVU before departing for UM?
