Bielema did some nice whining about Iowa using his ankle tat against Cheeseheads in recruiting. Captain Kirk responded gloriously by as always staying above the fray (without denying he has underlings whose job it is to get in the middle of the fray!).
From the CR Gazette article:
Wisconsin Coach Bret Bielema, a former Iowa team captain, has a Tiger-Hawk tattooed on his lower calf with the words “believe” and “achieve.” He said Monday in his news conference that Iowa coaches use his ink against him in recruiting battles.
“Every time somebody goes to visit there, the first thing — I can write it down to a T — they’re going to come back and say, ‘Coach, can we see your tattoo?’” Bielema said. “Every Iowa coach says that to him, so I know their routine, and it’s nothing surprising.”
Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz said Tuesday that he doesn’t have a tattoo and hasn’t mentioned Bieleman’s to a recruit.
“I’ve never said a word,” Ferentz said. “That’s all I can say. I’ve never said a word.”
Hee hee he. Typo on Bielema's name in original (so I guess he is sic).
So what do y'all think of the tatoo war? Is it:
A) Fair game-he got it, now he can live it,
B) Over the line-not something to mention to recruits,
C) Lesson in permanence of tatoos and all should learn from situation, or
D) He should have got "Coach Walden, its been great kicking your ass for 4 years" tatooed instead.
Personally, I go with A, C, and D.
