Iowa 38, Michigan 28: The Game In Pictures
[Bumped.--AJ]
You don't even have to be a lip reader to be entertained by RichRod's sideline antics, I maintain; the facial expressions are almost good enough by themselves.

Is it just me,
or does that “isn’t working” picture of Rich Rod look like Commandant Noriega watching the 82nd Airborne exiting the aircraft over Panama?

The Stanzi do
Hey Ricky, the Tom Brady doesn’t work for Tom Brady, whether his Brazilian supermodel wife thinks so or not. Go with something American. Go with a mullet, three lines shaved on the side of the head, with the lines dyed red white and blue. If you’re going to go with ridiculous looking hair, go for the gusto. The patriotic gusto. Love it or leave it.

ARob just picked up 15 on a 3rd and 14. One of the best plays of the game….

Was remarking to a friend at that time
When was the last time a draw on 3rd-and-long picked up the 1st for the Hawks? The only time it was regularly successful was Brad Banks on the delayed QB draw. Between 2002-2010, I can only remember one Shonn Greene play where he picked up something like 22 on a 3rd-and-18.
Seems to me the draw play needs to be retired as a 3rd-and-long option. A success rate of something like 1 in 40 is awful, especially when you have a Senior QB you can trust to not make stupid throws if the play is not there.

It has some value as a surprise if you normally think "fuck it, go deep"
And you might as well if your O-line can be trusted to keep your QB from getting murdered. Even if it turns out to be an arm punt, you were going to punt anyway on the next play.
Yup
That was the last time

So at most it works once a year? Or more probably once every two years?
When we run it at least twice a game? Just seems like a ridiculously low success percentage for the small amount of field position it usually gains, especially when everybody knows it’s coming from us.
I spent half my life's earnings on wine, women & song. The other half I wasted.

Iowa runs very rarely on 3rd and long.
Prior to the Michigan game (haven’t updated my work yet this week), Iowa had 25 plays of 3rd and 8 are longer and ran on just 3 of the 25. One of the runs came while leading ISU 35-0 and another when leading Ball State 42-0. The 3rd came in the 2nd half against Penn State. I believe it happened just the one time this past weekend and thanks to the Michigan defense it worked. So, I believe it has been tried only twice this year in situation where the margin was less than 35..

Didn't mean to stomp on your soapbox.
Part of what I was looking for when I did the analysis was because I felt the same way – that we run a draw on a lot of 3rd and long plays. I was just as surprised by the results. Of course, my memory is affected by the same factor as yours.

Ferentz and O'keefe
knew that the draw would likely get them a field goal try, at least.

Is it just me or does it look like DJK's head is smaller than his bicep?
Odd perspective on that photo. Great work though, FH.
Rodriguez appears to be one of those touchy-feely types
With Ferentz and DJK, he has his hands all over them. No respect for personal space.

Are there any women on this site?
If so, close your ears.
I’m glad Iowa doesn’t do that pink stuff on the uniforms for breast cancer awareness. I’m aware of it already and don’t need to see it on the black and gold.
I know of at least 4 girls on this site but I doubt they're touchy enough to care what you think
I think that it’s a good cause and it only is on there for a game or two a year, so no harm.

As one of the women on the site, I think you're right that we likely won't be offended.
I also think it’s a good cause, and it’s a great way of drawing more attention, but I wish (and I may take some flack for saying this) that teams that do this kind of thing would support something OTHER than breast cancer awareness. Yes, tons of people are affected, but there are many other causes that could use some serious attention.

I’m currently watching all 3 seasons of Arrested Development on Netflix right now…phenomenal. Supposedly they are looking to make a full length movie to wrap up the series since Fox is a bunch of cock gobblers and shut them down.
That movie will come out
about the time the “Deadwood” movie premieres.

According to Wikipedia
Showtime tried to pick up the rights to the show on the condition that Michael Hurwitz be a part of it…well fuck it here you go:
Despite months-long rumors of Arrested Development having been picked up by the cable television network Showtime,28 the San Francisco Chronicle reported on March 28, 2006 that creator Mitch Hurwitz would not be returning.29 Showtime had made it clear that Hurwitz’s involvement was a requirement for the continuation of the show. As Hurwitz explained, “I had taken it as far as I felt I could as a series. I told the story I wanted to tell, and we were getting to a point where I think a lot of the actors were ready to move on.”30 He said that he was “more worried about letting down the fans in terms of the quality of the show dropping” than he was about disappointing fans by not giving them more episodes. In this same interview, he said, “If there’s a way to continue this in a form that’s not weekly episodic series television, I’d be up for it.”
True
the MLB does the blue for prostate cancer awareness as well. I think the timing of Breast Cancer Awareness Month happens to fall in football season, while the other cancer awareness months fall in the offseason

Yes, because only women have been affected by breast cancer.
I happen to know that kids get sick but I have no problem with the owners of a Hawkeye sports blog devoting a front page story(ies) to a non-sports cause. Does pink on a uniform somehow make you feel emasculated? Be a man, embrace pink (the color, not that awful singer).
