In the other big wrestling event of the evening (and if you think at least one of your BHGP admin/editor braintrust isn't watching the Royal Rumble... well, you clearly don't know us well at all), #1 ranked Iowa entertains unranked Michigan State tonight; no TV coverage of the dual, but it's theoretically available as a stream on BTN.com for $2.99. I say "theoretically" because right now it's flashing a lovely TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES screen at me. Assholes.
Anyway, all chatter for that goes here -- you know the rules. Play nice.

It is going to be sad not to be able to watch him wrestle on a regular basis after the next 2 months are done and his career at Iowa is over. I was just wondering: I know one of the Brands won an Olympic Gold Medal, but I don’t know what it takes to get to that level. How much different is it, and why don’t we see more Iowa wrestlers reach that stage? Does Metcalf have a chance at that type of thing? I really know nothing of international wrestling.

It's a different style and possibly one not as conducive to Metcalf's go-go ATTACK KILL MAIM style.
But he’s definitely going to give it a shot. Hopefully we can watch him in the 2012 games in London.

Future Father-In-Law isn't sure yet
Tremendous college wrestler, but the difference is getting bigger between freestyle and college-style. He used to scramble alot (not as much this year), which would be a disadvantage. He does think his guts could help him.

Especially impressive was Molinaro, who seemed sufficiently pissed by his humbling at the hands of Metcalf to pull out a nice win against #2 – ranked Ruschell. 133, 149, and 165 should be pretty interesting matches in the Iowa-Wisco dual. Ruschell has kept it close against Metcalf before, IIRC, though if Metcalf keeps wrestling the way he’s been going lately, it won’t matter.
