Fuck Inconsolable. Jamie Pollard is Rich, Bitch!
The Gazette recently linked to State employee salary information, and Jamie Pollard makes more than Barta. I understand that Pollard has been in his position longer (have not google-stalked to confirm this, though), but does this sound fishy to anybody else?
Pollard's Salary info: $364,000.00, plus $13,666.63 travel stipend
Barta's Salary info: $343,720.08, plus $14,719.67 travel stipend.
I think the travel stipend number is the smoking gun on why Iowa State athletics lag behind U of Iowa.

Someone...
with photoshop abilities should make an Obama poster with Pollard’s face, and instead of INCONSOLABLE it should say OVERPAID.

As much as I hate to say it...
the man has done his job off the field. He may be a shit judge of people when it comes to hiring, but from a fundraising standpoint he is a feather in the cap of Silo U.

True
But then he has to raise money to pay off his ill-fated coaching hires, too.

Also...
At least within the state of Iowa, he is known by nearly every non-ISU fan (and some ISU fans) as a horrible person who has tried to stick it to the other state teams. Sure, he may be worth an extra $5 million over his career to ISU, but he has re-energized any hatred of ISU that might have died off before his arrival.
Can you tell that I hate Jamie Pollard?

It's an interesting point
He’s definitely been good for Iowa State’s fundraising efforts and I’d say that he’s also done a pretty good job of energizing their fanbase. But, as you noted, he’s also energized anti-ISU feelings as well among Iowa and UNI fans. It was definitely easier to root for ISU teams when they did well before Pollard.

I would say I am an example of...
that, Ross. I am a UNI grad, have season tickets for Iowa football, and I was OK rooting for ISU once in awhile before that “Cyclone State” crap. I was rooting for ISU when they made the elite 8 in basketball. But now, I hope they go 0 for the season in every sport just so Pollard loses his job.

Indeed
It was also a lot easier to me to cheer for ISU in anything before I spent eight years living in Iowa City. My dad is an ISU grad, so I cheered for them a bit growing up. But you spend that much time in Iowa City and it’s hard to see ISU as anything but the enemy.

Do you guys need a room?
Where you can sit there and respond to one another’s comments over and over again?

Sorry, oldman...
I guess we are wasting this precious electronic space. I’m sure it is very important to you to only have 5 comments per story around here, with one sentence per comment. Otherwise, it just gets way above your reading level.
Jerk.

I'd be interested in that room.
Please IM me with some specifics.

Shocking
To this date, I have no idea why I reached the same level as PantherHawk in your mind, but I’ll revert back to non-commenting. Point taken.
