No, that's definitely not true.

1) The Griswolds don’t visit Eddie.

2) jNW are the biggest bunch of ankle-biting little brothers we’ve ever seen. Well, east of Ames, anyway.

3) I didn’t see a shred of overbloated senses of entitlement from the Griswold family. The Chesters, on the other hand…

I hate to call a point of order on this one, OPS

but the Griswolds, do, in fact visit Cousin Eddie and Kathryn, in the first “Vacation” movie.

Granted, Christmas Vacation is probably the better of the two, but there are many, many gems to be found in the first Anthony Michael Hall as Russ version.

I won’t mince words: I DO hate Northwestern and for that matter, any school that isn’t the University of Iowa, so PFS, you have plenty of company in my wheelhouse of hate. I have plenty of friends that say “Well I don’t dislike School X as much as I do School Y, so I hope School X wins.” Fuck that shit something proper. If your name isn’t the University of Iowa, then you are Al-Qaeda to me.

As far as I’m concerned, every game that doesn’t involve the Hawkeyes should end in a 0-0 tie (yes, I know you can’t have ties in CFB – this is my fantasy scenario) where each QB leaves with a drool-inducing concussion, all the fans have to scalp their tickets for 1000% of their face value and even better if the above coach gets a nice case of gonorrhea from Pam Ward.

As far as I’m concerned, every other program out there and their fan bases are shit and hates my guts just as much as I hate them. So you can play nice and say you don’t hate us but compare us to some mongoloid movie characters, but I’ll just come right out and say that I hope you go 0-12 and your entire athletic department is cut due to budget constraints after this year.

I don't hate jNW...

but I do hate losing to them. I also hate losing to Indiana. (OK, let’s face it, I hate it when Iowa loses to anyone.)

I think there are 4 main reasons why it seems like Iowa and jNW have become something close to rivals recently:

a) A lot of (and maybe most) Iowa fans can remember when jNW was one of the worst two major football programs (the other being K State). It is hard to respect a team that was so bad for so long. (I’m not trying to be a jerk here, just telling the truth.)

b) Iowa losing 7 times to jNW since 1994. (Of course, Iowa has laid many the severe beatdown upon jNW during that time also). Also, add in the fact that Iowa has been losing to jNW in baskeball with some regularity.

c) BHGP has been stoking any possible flame of a rivalry between Iowa and jNW. Heck, they coined the term “just Northwestern.”

d) Any possible (and some of these may be up for debate about how widespread they are amongst jNW fans, players, coaches, etc) unfavorable characteristics about jNW, including: seeming apathy reflected in the fact that your football stadium is rarely more than 2/3 full, Fitzgerald possibly not voting for Shonn Greene as first team all big ten, the seeming whiney-ness of jNW fans for getting passed over for the Outback Bowl, and probably one or two other things I’m not thinking of right now.

So, I will conclude with a quote from an Al Pacino film, as it would seem fitting because another BHGP commenter/poster did the same about Rittenberg and his t-shirt monopoly.

“It’s not personal, Sonny. It’s strictly business.”

Iowa fans apathy or dislike of jNW began with “business” – my points a and b above. Then, for some, it became personal with points c and d above.

I've sentenced boys younger than you to the gas chamber. Didn't want to do it. I felt I owed it to them.

You lost me at "I don't hate jNW"

I fucking hate the purple nancies, but they’re not a rival and they never will be.

Iowa’s relationship with Jnwu is the same as Mario’s relationship with a Goomba. Those little goddam mushrooms are weak and useless, but every now and again when he’s not paying attention, one of those little bastards gets him.
