Jake Christensen sightings?
Uh...whatever happened to 'ol Jake? Anyone know if he has landed at one of the various mid-majors he was likely to target? Could he be dropping football and going the baseball route? Is he redshirting, so to speak? Couldn't find anything on him on the web.
I could imagine the poor chap hanging up the cleats for good. Although, it could also be a case, sadly, that he has landed but no one cares enough to write about him anymore.
I got my Dominique Douglas update...no too surprising. And finally, I've got my Chuck Hartlieb update.

Jesus, lighten up.
He did his best and now he’s at loose ends, and … he’s a kid.
I hope he comes back as Stanzi’s #2 and gets his degree and a little credit from people like you.
Mr. Boh Knows ...
Excuse me?
What did I say that requires that I lighten up? I asked where the “kid” is…and that’s about it. Perhaps you need to lighten up. There was, as this blog demonstrated rather clearly, considerable interest in his future and then suddenly nothing. So I was curious. Finally, in what way do I rob him of credit in my post. Whatever…I’ll let it slide this time.

I agree
who knew Jake Christensen was one of Bellanca’s “buttons”?

He might still be waiting on the waiver...
from NCAA. According to a February article, there is now a rule that prevents guys from transferring in order to play only one year at the new school. So, if Jake transfers to Eastern Illinois or Illinois St, he will have to get that waiver to play football. Here is the article I got this info from:
According to one of the players from the golf outing
Jake couldn’t go anywhere until he graduated. I didn’t take the time to read the article linked by Chazz, but that could be the result of the new rule he mentions.
When I asked where he thought Jake would end up he mentioned Eastern Illinois.

Didn't Jake graduate in May?
I thought that was his plan, and then he was off to Eastern Illinois for one more year of football in the fall.
I was told he was finishing up a summer course
and then probably heading off to Eastern Illinois.

Ah.
That makes sense. And I’ll certainly defer to you since you talked to some players – I’m sure they’d have a better idea of his plans.
Well, Morehouse/Ferentz quashed my player chat
I only spoke to the one player and, he claimed that downtown was off-limits to the team, but Ferentz said otherwise, as Marc noted here.
Regardless, I was glad to hear that JC may be landing on his feet. The kid showed tremendous heart and has been a great team player while in Iowa City. I would have much rather seen him stick it out in Iowa City and taken the grad assistant route, as Morehouse stated below, but I can’t say I blame him for wanting to play out his last year of eligibility.

How Could You.
You give me a Chuck Hartlieb update without an update on the rest of the brothers Hartlieb?
I'm thinking Mexican't is right
I believe Jake will end up at Eastern. I don’t have it confirmed, but I believe that will be his only option. He can’t play in the MVC (transfers need two years of eligibility). An FBS team would take some NCAA petitioning at this point. With camp looming, I think he’ll have to go the quick (D-IAA or FCS) route.
He could’ve stayed and maybe played or built up a resume for a shot to be a grad assistant somewhere, but it’s easy for me to say that. Kid’s got a competitive heart.

A quick search on facebook reveals
His networks:
University of Iowa Alum ’09
E. Illinois Grad Student ’10
Wherever he ends up
Best of luck to him. I wasn’t exactly JC6’s biggest supporter (quite the opposite, actually), but I never questioned his dedication to the program and thought that he handled the situation last year with the utmost class and commitment to the team. Few people could have taken the amount of public heat he did and not let it get to him, Jake handled it all with class and the perseverance of a saint. I think he has an amazing future ahead of him as a coach, and any school would be lucky to have him to teach their players.
