Football Transfer Rumor(s)?

[Bumped. We've heard some really sketchy stuff over the past month or so about this, but like Morehouse, if it was solid enough, we would have attached a name to it long before now.--OPS]

I was reading Marc Morehouse's blog On Iowa today where he was assessing the 2009 defensive back positions for the Hawks. Then in the middle of his posting he threw this out:

A name or two in the secondary has come up with transfer rumors. I don’t feel comfortable bringing those names up because we really don’t know what’s fact at this point.

Does anyone know who he might be talking about? I would be shocked if he is talking about Bernstein, Prater or Lowe.

[Purely editorial statement: If any of the three players SMA listed were considering a transfer, we too would seriously question their sanity.--OPS]

I guess it's not really surprising

The depth chart is pretty solid for a lot of those positions, and those guys will almost all be back, so sophs and jrs who aren’t getting time now, probably never will.
But the way he throws it out there is a little disconcerting, not like something bad is happening, more just with no warning.

Morrow is the name I've heard the most

It makes sense I guess. He came in with a lot of hype, and has been stuck behind Sash and Captain Failure for two years. I really hope he sticks around though.

Tillison and Morrow are the names I've heard.

Although Tillison is maybe more of a LB now… anyway.

I can understand Morrow’s frustration, but I really hope he sticks around. He seems like a talented guy and more depth is never a bad thing — and, hell, you never know… he could actually unseat Greenwood. Going into last year, I’m betting that most people didn’t think incumbent starters like JC and Dalton would lose their jobs, but lo and behold, they did. Plus, Morrow has a GOLDEN opportunity to strut his stuff in spring ball since Sash and Greenwood will both be out of action rehabbing shoulder surgeries.

Great

It’s bad enough having EPIC FAIL doing the worst impression of a white DB since Shada (and bringing shame to the position once occupied by Pagel and Considine), but I at least held out hope that he could be challenged for the starting spot in spring ball. But if it’s true that Morrow, that would seem to take away the best chance of someone leap-frogging Greenwood and taking his spot.

I ate the blue ones ... they taste like burning.

Well there's always Cato or Swanson if Morrow does leave

Although Cato seems like more of a SS-type. Regardless, I don’t see anyone unseating Greenwood until the coaches find someone they’re as comfortable with handling the defensive adjustments on the field. I think, ideally, Sash would take over that role and we could get someone a bit more athletic and a better hitter in at FS.

I (heart) Prater.

If he transfers it will be a tremendous loss. He is going to be special. I really hope it isn’t him.

Go Hawks!
