Do you have any of those stupid "browser toolbars" installed?
Every other program out there wants to install some garbage like that lately.

No, no browser tools
Nothing has changed, but all of a sudden when I click on the ‘Read More’ or whatever it says to get to the ‘jump’, a couple of times i’ve gotten a Jack In The Box video that plays while underneath it says ‘Site Loading’…

Nebraska running the option?
That must mean it’s 1995 again, which means I have HS eligibility. Time to go be a White Speed Right Tackle.

The carnage
For the few and proud that wanted to know how the drinking game ended: 4 entered, 2 left. Highlights: I got slapped twice, countless beer duels happened, and I am now heading to the bar in Chicago. Oh, and three cases were consumed by the group. Enjoy the “Perfect Storm” that took place this evening. Iowa might be headed to Glendale.

Can anyone tell me why
Nebraska has cream-colored sleeve stripes that don’t match any other element of their uniform? Does it have meaning? Is it new? This has bugged me all year…

He is gonna get paid come April.
Athletic, disruptive defensive tackles like him are worth their weight in diamond-covered gold in the NFL.
This whole defense looks great.
The DL is doing a great job staying in their rush lanes to not give McCoy easy yardage like TAMU didi last week.

This is about the time of the college football season where my head is spinning at 50 rpm
So please no screaming if this is clearly obvious: With Cincy beating Pitt today, if Nebraska pulls out the win tonight, is Iowa still in line for an at-large big?
by Twin Cities Hawk on Dec 5, 2009 8:30 PM CST reply actions
It gets dicey.
If you assume Florida, Texas, and TCU will gobble up three of the four at-large spots in that scenario, then you have Iowa/Penn State/Boise State fighting over that last spot.
Yes, but
the general feeling is that the Orange would probably take PSU over Iowa.

If you count the Houston game today...
Cleveland had 14 TDs and 1100+ receiving yards this year on 101 receptions. I know Houston is a “chuck-it” school, but those are still impressive numbers. And I think he still has a year left at Houston (as does Keenum), if they don’t go to the NFL.

Question about Cap One Bowl
Are they really, as they claim, going to announce their selection 2 hours before the BCS selection show? Is that possible? Cause that’s what they’re claiming. Which would totally undermine the BCS selection of Iowa/PSU
'They are who we thought they were!'
By then the BCS should have its picks selected.
But they don’t do the show until after NFL football.
Maybe
Morehouse speculated that they would announce it as “Iowa/PSU” and leave it open, but that would also imply that someone got a BCS bid.

Huskers got mega screwed on that spot I think.
Not as if another set of downs would have mattered to them.
Proof that announcers are retarded
10 seconds left in first half of Div II semi between Northwest Missouri and Cal (Pa.). Cal kneels on third down, Northwest calls their last time out. Announcers spend 30 seconds saying why that is stupid because NEITHER OF THEM KNEW what down it was. Bearcats block the punt and take it in with no time left.
Nooooo!

Yeah, I think TCU needs Clemson to win
to get pushed to the Fiesta.
"I think it's safe to say our concerns are many." -- Kirk Ferentz
I think a TCU-Boise matchup...
would be disappointingly unimpressive. I think TCU’s defense is good enough to stymie Boise’s offense (and by stymie, I mean limit to 21 to 28 points). I’m not sure if TCU will keep scoring as much as they have after the layoff, so maybe they get 28 to 35 points instead of their standard 40.
Yeah, it would still be a “good” game. But don’t expect a Boise barn-burner like against Oklahoma. And I’m not sure if there would be a giant following, what with 3 other undefeated teams still out there going into the bowls. Also, when Boise met TCU in last year’s bowl (Poinsettia?) it was a 17-16 TCU win (only 2 turnovers for each team, although TCU had 470 total yards compared to Boise’s 250) . Not exactly a shootout.

Who wouldn’t want to see the WAC champ vs. the Mountain West champ?
That’s no way to make our Boise friends happy, Marc.
Not over Iowa making the Fiesta obviously
but hypothetically.
I would want to see...
TCU and Boise each play BCS teams and beat them or be very competitive (obviously, I would want Iowa to beat whoever we play).
Maybe like this:
National Title game: Bama v. Texas, reluctantly I will root for McCoy to win and Mack Brown to get smothered by Bevo.
Rose Bowl: Ohio St v. Oregon, sorry Big Ten fans, I have to root for Oregon to win a 6-3 stinker.
Sugar Bowl: Florida v. TCU, go Frogs.
Orange Bowl: Cincy v. G Tech, I don’t have much against Cincy, and Gilyard is awesome, but I like Paul Johnson, so maybe I root for Tech.
Fiesta Bowl: Iowa beats Boise in a close, high-scoring thriller, but Clayborn, Spievey and Sash each get some big plays.

I don't think they'll have a choice
The uprising if Boise is passed over for a 2-loss team from the Big Ten might be enough to topple the apple cart. Seriously. In a year where the BCS is hiring Ari Fleischer to repair its public image, they’ll do everything in their power to prevent a traveshamockery. It’s a self-preservation move.

Fuck the B12.
This ACC game is 10000x more entertaining.
The B12 game has nothing aside from Suh’s awesomeness.
Could be.
I like defense, too, but this game has been excruciating for long stretches. Lots of dropped passes and offenses failing to make any adjustments.
It’s been better lately, though, I will admit.
Worse part of the B12 game was the mind-blowing number of mental mistakes.
Penalties, dropped balls, kicks that go out of bounds, poor clock management, etc.. That game was as painful as they come.

I'm not saying he'll actually win it
I’m saying he should. Stats are an awful way to judge a DT. He totally dominates every team he plays, and often draws double and triple teams that have allowed Crick to also have a really good year. He just completely destroyed a good Texas offense (and got his sack total up to 10.5, and his tackle numbers over 80. He also has an insane number of pass breakups for a DT. So, his stats are pretty good too).
Ingram actually will win it after today, but Suh is definitely the best player in the country, and I don’t think there’s anyone else who’s even all that close.
You don't think Gerhart is close?
Does Stanford even win 3 games without him?
Also, today, I would say Marty Gilyard is a damn good player. I haven’t looked at his stats, but he is the man.

It's not "most valuable" it's "most outstanding"
So I kinda don’t care how many Stanford would win without him. Although, for the record, they have a pretty good passing game too. Luck is a good QB.
Anyway, no, I don’t think Gerhart is close. I don’t think he’s even better than Ingram.

I think Muschamp will have to earn his salary for Texas to have a shot in the MNC.
They’ve had a good D all year, but they’ll have to really step up and slow down Ingram.
The Texas offense better go back to the drawing board, too. They got worked tonight and while Bama doesn’t have a freak of nature like Suh, they’re probably an even better all-around D.
Muschamp has earned his salary
Up to the A&M game, where he decided to piss it all away. Granted, tonight was a case study in two offenses making like retarded monkeys fucking a football, but Texas’ D was nowhere to be seen when it mattered most.

Iowa v. TCU in Fiesta
I want to say Boise/TCU in Fiesta so BCS could say “Look, we’re letting the mid-majors play!”, but someone pointed out it would be a re-match, and someone else pointed out TCU doesn’t sell tix, so that means more tix for Iowans.

BSU and TCU should play each other in a playoff. I do not think two mid majors deserve at large spots. let the winner of that game fill the 4th remaining at large. But then again, who would fill up the 3rd? Because Penn St and iowa can’t get in and anyone on the proverbial bubble got beat today. shit this is stupid

If this were pre-BCS
Then neither Boise nor TCU would even smell a BCS bowl. As flawed as the system is, and as much as the little guys tend to get shut out, the simple truth is that teams like BSU/TCU/UTAH have absolutely NOTHING to bitch about, as before they had no chance of being in a major bowl. Besides, BYU managed to win a title without being in a major bowl.

The Kimbo fight was weird as hell — barely any action in the 1st round and sporadic action in the subsequent rounds. He did look like an improved fighter — not totally lost on the ground and got in some nice slams. That said, Houston Alexander ain’t exactly a ground wizard or anything.

Bones went to Iowa Central, actually.
He was actually going to go into college wrestling (at ISU, I think), but his GF got pregnant and he decided to go into MMA to make some cash.
Hammill was a DIII stud at Rochester Inst. of Technology. So neither guy was a big-time D-I star.
According to Fight! Magazine,
Bones got an offer from the Hawkeyes, but as you said, ended up at Iowa Central. And, I believe, Hammill is a two time world champion wrestler. They may not be D-I stars, but they’re phenomenally talented grapplers.

Here's what I am thinking will happen tomorrow
Sugar with 1st pick (replacement) takes Florida
Fiesta with 2nd pick (replacement) takes TCU
Orange with 3rd pick (at-large) takes Iowa
Fiesta with 4th pick (at-large) takes Cinncy
Sugar with 5th pick (at-large) takes Boise St.
Fiesta gets #3 and #4 teams and they are more legit than Boise—besides Boise played TCY last year and no one came. Boise Florida is intriguing until they get destroyed by halftime. Iowa plays Ga. Tech in a who cares game, which of course I care about. Ga Tech may not sell a lot of tics so they will jump at Iowa. Penn State cannot save the ratings for that game.

"I think it's safe to say our concerns are many." -- Kirk Ferentz
So, Iowa/Cinncy or Iowa Ga. Tech
I don’t see Iowa/Boise anymore.
I read a number of stories of late of the bad economy in Idaho. Double what it was when they went to Fiesta before. And Boise laid an egg last year as an undefeated in the Poinsetta Bowl…sold 10,000 tickets or so.

Wait
So this means that the Boise “fans” have been kicking up shit for no reason? I’m actually a little pissed about that.
I ate the blue ones ... they taste like burning.
Well, going into today
I think everyone was expecting Iowa-Boise. Lots of things changed yesterday. And, after yesterday, I think the TCU-advocates may have a voice. A TCU-Bama championship may be more justifiable than the Texas alternate. Texas is benefitting from being a pre-season top 3 team, and, in my opinion, has not shown enough to warrant being ranked ahead of TCU. This year, it may be fair to say that the MWC is equal to, or better than, the Big XII. Of course, I could be completely full of shit.
by The Mexican't on Dec 6, 2009 11:03 AM CST up reply actions
I don't see this
Are Clemson and BYU really more impressive wins than OkSt and Nebraska? They might be comparable, but not a big lead. Factor in the part of TCU’s schedule that was complete ass (the bottom teams of the MWC are ten times worse than the bottom of the Big XII) and I don’t think TCU really has an argument to be ahead.
FWIW, Colley (prior to yesterday) had Texas’s SOS at 54 and TCU’s at 95, with the Big XII ranking 5th among conferences and the MWC 7th. (The Big East actually ranks second, somehow, but Cincy’s SOS was 76. Probably jumps up after playing Pitt, though a little fiddling around on his website indicates that the top 7 in his rankings will likely be Bama, Texas, Cincy, Florida, TCU, Oregon, and Boise – and that’s without adding the GT-Clemson game that will hurt TCU’s SOS.)
Now THAT is some comedic wit ladies and gentlemen
We are truly blessed to have been visited by someone who brings so much to the conversation, both intellectually and comedically.
I ate the blue ones ... they taste like burning.
Sugar takes Florida, yes. But I think the Fiesta takes Iowa first (the unbeatens are almost interchangeable, although honestly Cincy might be the least attractive of the bunch, so if the Fiesta wants Iowa they have to take them first), Orange takes TCU, Fiesta takes Boise, Sugar takes Cincy.
I'm telling you...Boise is going last
no one EVER watches them on TV due to days and times. Cinncy has the Brian Kelly factor…re: ND gig (possible)
"I think it's safe to say our concerns are many." -- Kirk Ferentz
Cincy didn't bring anyone last year
Boise drew a crowd (and TV ratings) for the Fiesta.
but not last year at Qualcomm
against…ta da….TCU. There were 33K there. 40K under capacity. Unemployment in Boise is out of control and they have about 60K to draw from outside of students. Not happening.
"I think it's safe to say our concerns are many." -- Kirk Ferentz
Dude,
Do you just pull your cheeks apart and push air? 60k to draw from outside of students? There is roughly 500,000 plus people in the Boise metro area. School is 20,000. And Boise gets very good ratings on TV, which is why they had 7 games televised this year. Your comment on Boise’s unemployment is way off base as well. Micron has had to make cuts and they are one of the largest employers in the city, but overall Boise has done very well through the past year. I mean, do you just make stuff up?
Boi Blue
I think
Cincy has a stronger draw this year. they have gotten an off season and a full year to develop a band wagon. they didn’t fluke their way into a BCS. Yes they won a joke of an automatic but at least they’re undefeated. The 12-0 factor will allow them to sell more tickets. I don’t know how fans packed Nipple Stadium but I do believe the incentive of a big bowl will bring people even though it didn’t last year. Also, who wouldn’t want to leave ohio in the winter

is the hotter team right now, and probably a better team than Boise right now.
However, Cincy did not sell out their first two games this year (against SEMO and Fresno State). And their stadium holds roughly 35k, so I’m not sure they will have a giant following.

Texas is 3-0 in BCS games.
I've sentenced boys younger than you to the gas chamber. Didn't want to do it. I felt I owed it to them.

Yeah...they played poorly tonight
but I think they will give Bama a game. This game, for Bama, was the Super Bowl of games…it was just last year they lost to Utah in bowl. and they were not impressivve against Auburn…

As much as I hate $aban
He has his team playing ANGRY, and they will want to come out to play in the MNC game.
I ate the blue ones ... they taste like burning.
Yeah.
But they will need to refill their motivational tanks. Everything I’ve heard/read says that they really did focus EVERYTHING they did since last year’s game on winning this year’s game. That level of motivation and determination won’t just replenish overnight, although obviously the crystal football can be a pretty big motivator. And it’s not like they’ll even need to play as well as they did today if Texas looks as shitty as they did tonight.
Some dude named Brad Edwards of ESPN...
just projected Iowa v. GTech in the Orange.

One last comment:
What a bad day for Buckeye basketballers: Even Turner breaks his back and is out for 8 weeks, and Oden is done for the year with a broken patella.

Yeah, that sucks
As much as I dislike OSU, Turner was on pace to be a serious national player of the year contender and top 5 draft pick. It’s really shitty to see him go down like that, hopefully he can come back 100%
Nice work Wisky
Hawai’i is almost as big an embarrassment on the field tonight as their coach is off it.
Oh
The Schadenfreude that surrounded yesterday. As much as I hate to see how that game ended last night, I am glad that Texas walked away the winner (I would’ve been devastated if we didn’t have a shot at an At-Large berth).
They took the bar, the whole fucking bar!
