FYI, WHAT LA TIMES CHRIS DUFRESNE SAID ABOUT IOWA LOSS

I've been carrying on a running e-mail conversation with LA Times college football writer, Chris Dufresne. Sent him the following e-mail...

Subject: RE: IOWA HAWKEYES Well, Rankman, I traveled 2000 miles, at a half a buck per, to sit fifty feet from Stanzi when he got munched in the end zone by the NU DE, causing a fumble which they recovered for six. That was really no big deal, the very worst part was Stanzi just laying there, and ten minutes later having to be helped to hobble off the field. He's got a regular season ending high ankle sprain and Hawkeye Nation is most assuredly aware that we are now a very different team. Won't cry, whine, piss, moan, like other leagues, we're Iowa and we stand together win or lose. Keep hitting us with your cheap shots, Rankman. We're Iowa and we're Big Ten Football and we can take it. See you next Saturday.

And he e'd back...

it's been a good year for iowa, sorry for the injury UCLA's QB has had his jaw broken and a concussion cincy's starting QB out three games; they keep winning iowa has had a lot of things go their way this year, this was a bad break. it was inevitable the team was going to slip up eventually...you cant keep playing on that ragged edge Chris Dufresne --

FYI, Hawkeye Nation.

OK...

…thanks for that. But if I wanted to find out what a delusional, semi-literate, compulsive Iowa hater thought of us, I’d read Lake the Posts.

Before you respond, let me remind you: Brian Cook called me smug, which makes me the Obama of smugness. I'm basically Smugbama.

Um, given UCLA's record

Doesn’t his mention of that injury actually support Iowa, rather than refute any credit we should receive?

I ate the blue ones ... they taste like burning.

I know...

that’s why I pass it on without comment. I mean, UCLA, what there was of them, went deep into the toilet when their QB went down. And Cincy? They lose their QB and keep winning? When do they have to play OSU or Wis or NU for that matter?

WTF?

UCLA? What the hell does that mean? They are 4-5 have lost every game of significance after the win against Tennessee while loosing 5 straight. They should pull out a couple of victories against WSU at 1-8 and ASU at 4-5 – tough, tough games there. Although they are in the Pac-10 and as all the pundits note the Pac-10 is far superior to Big XI.

Cincy keeps winning which is impressive, I reserve judgment on their program until they play WVU (which is down this year) and Pitt which is quietly putting together a heck of a season. In between those two games is the Zooker, who they best destroy to win any cred. When those three games are done and if they are undefeated I will be happy to give them all the credit in the world, they will deserve it at that point. Think of the ramifications if they win the Big East but the Zooker pulls the upset? Will be interesting to hear how all the Big XI haters will react to that.

Said, if for no other reason, to avoid making Pat Angerer angrierer.

They'll just hate on the Big East.

No one around here will get any credit

It never gets to be easy

Correct me if I'm wrong

I believe the two teams Cincy played without Pike were Syracuse and Louisville, the two cellar dwellers of the Big East. I realize jNWU did lose to Syracuse somehow, but I think they are a much better team at this point then they were then.

It's not that I'm lazy, Bob, it's just that I don't care

Is it okay if we just plain don't give a shit about Chris Dufresne?

Because honest to God, I do not give one shit about Chris Dufresne. I don’t mean that in that usual ex-wife “watch how much I don’t care by getting drunk at dinner and talking shit about that bastard man the entire time” way. I mean Chris Dufresne has never mattered and will continue to not matter to BHGP. Your fixation and fascination are weird.

I got more rhymes than Wade Lookingbill's got dunks

I'm on the West Coast, dude.

He drives the college football train out here. As in the Pac Ten. He’s a big influence. His articles run three-five times a week in the LA Times. He constantly pisses on the Big Ten. I pass it on. Like I said, FYI. I’ll keep it to myself if its too much the outside influence.

Fear

The ironmoderator fist of Surprisington.

"For me the game wasn’t grounded in reality. It was about the uniform you put on that turned you into a warrior. It was about the mythology of the battle, the victory, the defeat, the struggle." - Mike Reid, PSU '69
