Proud as F#@K
Regardless of the outcome of tonights game I am proud to call myself a Hawkeye. I am proud of the fact that inspite of all the experts saying 17 points the boys from Iowa City made it one hell of a game. I am proud to bleed black and gold and to sit amongnst the 70,000+ of the greatest fans in college football on saturdays in Kinnick. And most of all I am proud to have witnessed the greatest winning streak in the history of Iowa football. It is time to look forward to the last home game of the year next week, cheer on a hawkeye victory over the Gophers, and take 10-2 into the Capital One bowl against the SEC and show the nation that this year was not a fluke. Great year to be a hawkeye and god bless the fun that I have had watching this team.
I am also proud of the fans that frequent this site. You are the classiest on the net and this is by far the best blog in the Big Ten, and maybe the nation. Funny, informative, and energetic, the boys running this bitch are outstanding. Lets have some fun next week in Kinnick and know that this has been a magical year.

Well said
Except, and this is just semantics, we had a winning streak of 20 or 21 from 1921-1923. But yes. This has been unbelievable, and today was just amazing. The kid from Keokuk and the rest of his mates made the country stand up and take notice. I have a very good friend in Florida that is a Husker fan but also a closet Hawkeye fan. He said that the radio people down there are saying that Iowa is a top 5 team next year. We got two games left and it only gets better from here.

Exactly
I never really thought we would win this game… and I considered it over when Stanzi went down last week. But a true Hawkeye steps up in the face of adversity and gives it their best shot, and that’s what all of our guys did today. We played an incredibly game in tough conditions and it has given me great hope for the future. We’ve had a really great season and next year looks like it could be even better. Our team is still pretty young and we’ve got a lot of promise.
So, while it sucks that we couldn’t have sodomized OSU in their home, we put up a fight and played a great game. We’ve got promise and the nation is now watching us, for better or for worse. But most of all… we’re the IOWA HAWKEYES and we’re FUCKING AWESOME. Win or lose.

Amen, these guys have done what no one outside of Iowa...
believed was possible. We’ve had an historic year full of memories that I will treasure forever.
The future looks very bright and I can’t wait to being the next winning streak!
KOK, you might be a genius...

Same here
That was an amazing game. Would have loved to be there. I usually crawl into a hole after losses. But this year, I have somehow taken them in stride.
Way to go Mandenburg. I look forward to seeing more of you this week against Minnesota and then ruling in 2011.
Stross, me no like you.

This has been...
The most fun i have ever had as an iowa fan. week in and week out i become prouder to call myself an Iowan. You guys here are a big reason this has been so much fun. I was sitting at a hockey game yesterday after the game and thinking “i have never been prouder after a Hawkeye loss.” Of course i felt bad for those kids but the heart they played with was just unbelievable. Vandenburg made the entire state of Iowa proud and i cannot imagine how the people of Keokuk must feel after watching one of their native sons almost lead Iowa to one of their most important victories in recent memory. Thanks to everyone here and all the Hawkeye fans, players and coaches. Again, this has been one of the best years of my life. GO HAWKS.

After the game
My prediction has been Fiesta Bowl vs. TCU/Boise St. (could be either) assuming we beat the LOLphers of course.
It's not that I'm lazy, Bob, it's that I just don't care

Agreed
I was pretty pissed off with the “suspect” playcalling at the end of the game, but the Big Televen should be worried about the team that is growing in Iowa City. After the booze wore off, and getting to see ND lost to Pitt, I am very happy with how yesterday went. For Vandenberg to walk into Columbus and have the kind of game he had after barely touching the ball all season, that is impressive. I’ll sound like a typical Cubs fan, next year is going to be amazing. I cannot remember an Iowa team with the kind of depth we appear to have at the key positions, and that will do us well in the years to come.
They took the bar, the whole fucking bar!

Hell yes
The future looks bright for this team. Thinking of what might have been (better play calling, better hands, better kicking) can be frustrating, but this team has exceeded wild expectations. If we look decent against Minny, don’t be surprised if we get a shot to prove something on the national BCS stage. After that, Spring ball should be very competitive and the home schedule is set up nicely. 2010 could be another special year. Go Hawks!

Congrats to you, Hawkeye Nation!
As a Penn State fan, I was pulling for you to win, even though an Ohio State win would serve my team better. I think your team has done an excellent job this year and this blog has made it easy to like your fans. You can hold your heads high after Saturday’s game. I hope that the more deserving team (Iowa) gets the 2nd BCS bowl game this year!

Thanks
To all the Nittany fans. You guys have really been a class act this year and have also made it pretty easy to support Penn St. Good luck the rest of the season.

Agreed, agreed, agreed
The OSU game was first Iowa loss (after I had an hour to cry, of course) after which I thought “What a great game!” instead of my usual “Pig f-ck! A-s wh-re! Blood! Pain! Die! Die! Raaaaage!!!” I think we played our most complete game of the season in Columbus. It just sucks that it was against a really good team (and ironic that we played our worst game of the season against a not-very-good team the week before).
Looking back on this season, it’s been a great one—almost as great as ‘02 (hope we end on a high note this time, though). I never thought I’d be stressing/dreaming about an Iowa MNC this late in the season (meaning before the NW loss). Speaking of which, that first loss took us out of MNC contention. The second one took us out of Rose Bowl contention. Here’s hoping that we don’t have a third, which would take us out of Fiesta/Orange Bowl contention. I was scared about the last two games, but I honestly feel really good about this one. Hopefully, Ferentz is keeping his usual one-at-a-time mentality—and also stressing the need to hang another 50+ on the Go-Fers this year.
