WSJ Article about Iowa Football
Has anyone else read this? Pretty interesting. Link to article HERE
Also, granted this is a TBL comments section discussion, but an interesting discussion on the article HERE (Sorry about the TBL link...I know he's not the most popular guy in the blogosphere, but I can't handle the Deadspin crew. If I've violated some kind of line or online social moray, my sincerest apologies and it won't happen again. I promise.)

Thanks Mary Sue!
“Of course they have trouble recruiting,” says former Iowa president Mary Sue Coleman, now the president at Michigan. “They’re in the middle of Iowa.”
And yet, the nation’s most respected academic institutions have no trouble at all recruiting our administrators. Good riddance in this case. I’ve lived in both places for extended periods of time, and I have to say, I would much rather be in the middle of Iowa than anywhere within 300 miles of southeast Michigan, particularly Ann Arbor. Ann Arbor is essentially what I hope that Iowa City never, ever becomes—-if you think Chicago suburb douchebaggery is bad, you’ve never dealt with U of M students/alums-that-never-left. The sense of entitlement is off the charts.

I once dealt with SE Michigan rich kids….in Chicago suburb douchebaggery. It can be a fucking scary thing.

What a Bichigan!
I was completely appalled when I read MSC’s comment the UI’s alleged recruiting woes.
My initial reaction was, “Really? The UNIVERSITY OF IOWA is IN IOWA? Wow! You WERE such a wise leader!”
Shortly followed by, “Ann Arbor has another whore to deal with.” (Like Michigan is a better state to be in. :p

I've got to agree with Chuck Long
If you can get the recruits to visit , half the battle is won.
I grew up in Davenport, an hour away from IC and knew basically nothing about it until I moved there for school. I figured right away that IC is an awesome place to be. OK, except for those damn shit berry trees on the Pentacrest.
To comment on an earlier comment, I wouldn’t worry about IC becoming Ann Arbor, there aren’t enough jobs. Having a degree means little, because everybody has them. It’s all about who you know and some luck. Also, the suburbanite kids love IC but can’t wait to get back home.
In 100 years, we'll all be dead.

True about the suburban kids wanting to go back home
All my IC roommates were from Chicago suburbs. In the summertime, they said they would rather go home to work for their Dads then party in IC. I just don’t get it.
