A-Rob Status for OSU UPDATE

As soon as it seems like the offense couldn't get more ragged, this might help.

From a very reliable source, sounds like A-Rob might be back sooner than expect.

Probably Saturday.

Apparently he has been nursing it for this game. I don't know how under the radar this is supposed to be, but apparently he's been talking about it openly to some.

As in, the whole football team. He went full contact today in practice.

A Vandy / A-Rob Saturday might improve our chances and give a bit of a spark to the offense. Here's hoping.

I really hope he's 100%

If he’s still gimpy I really doubt he’ll be more effective than Wegher or even Paki, and I would hate for him to be re-injured.

If he is good to go it’s the best possible news I could hear short of Manzi defying science and logic to make a full recovery in time for Saturday. A-Rob has easily been the most consistent offensive player for the Hawks this year. I dread the thought of Wegher getting 20+ carries a game knowing that 15 of those carries will go for 2 yards or less.

When Iowa has been able to sustain long drives this year, it’s been on the back of Adam Robinson. The long drive late in the Penn State game may not have been flashy but it is exactly what KOK’s offenses are supposed to do, and A-Rob is THE reason that it worked so well. If Iowa’s offense can get at least two long TD drives a game, and the defense continues to bring the pain, I don’t think there’s a team in the nation that can beat the Hawks.

I hate say it before this already incredible season is over, but it is ridiculous how stacked Iowa is going to be at offensive skill positions next year. I remember being just as excited for 2005, though.

If he is not 100%

sit him. If Vandenberg doesnt make a marked improvement, a healthy A Rob doesnt improve our chances much.

agreed

seems to me our lack of running game has been more on the o-line and defensive scheming to stop it. Wegher and Co. aren’t seeing any cut back lanes either because they typically aren’t there this year.

I doubt he would make that much of a difference

I think successful running yards are more about offensive line play than running back. Sure, he could give Wegher rests and the team a confidence boost. But I doubt he would make that much of a difference.

Now PakiBomb is a different story. I should reword my statement: as long as you have a decent running back, it comes down to the O Line.

That would be quick for a high ankle sprain.

But, if he’s a fast healer, and if the sprain wasn’t that severe, I suppose anything’s possible.

If A-Rob can go and be 90% or better it will help. He had clearly established himself as the team’s best running back. But, if he’s not at least mostly healthy, and he’s running any additional risk of re-injury and putting his future in any jeopardy, he shouldn’t play.

I frankly would be surprised. KF is pretty conservative about these things. I wonder if either Greenwood or Sandeman have a chance. Anyone hear anything on those fronts?

I believe

KF said that both Greenwood and Sandeman have a shot to play, per his PC yesterday. Greenwood sounds more likely.

Kirk isn't new to this game

it’s entirely possible that he was sandbagging yesterday when Chris Hassel asked about him.

I would rather have a 70% A-Rob than a 100% Apakilypse.

I’m really hoping Greenwood can get back for the game and field some arm-punts.

Iowa - Where undefeated is just not good enough.
