Don't worry -- Pat Angerer's tattoo won't beat you up.  Unless you're wearing corn maize-and-blue, at least.

Anyway, if you can't make the BHGP tailgate, here's your open thread to discuss the early games (LOL Auburn).

With our luck

The next time we catch them they will have wised-up, fired The Zooker and kidnapped all able bodied recruits/men/women/farm animals in the state to play for them. But still, I like our odds.

three miss PATs in this game.

And two of them were by ISU’s kicker Mahoney who has now missed three straight extra points……glorious.

Dunno

I’m at the office doing homework, so I only have Gamecast up – no real info.

Also, Illinois is just brutal. Terribly coached, zero player development, and frankly, shitty recruiting.

I just flipped over

And was amazed at the size difference between EIU off line and PSU D. Lopsided.

I don’t get VS. I do, however, get Fox Sports Midwest for the highly anticipated Okie State-A&M game.

Can you even IMAGINE

How much money Charles Barkley has riding on this game? I’m guessing six figures.

by Ed Podolak of Good Judgement on Oct 10, 2009 1:10 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Looking at who they've played

Its not surprising. Granted their schedule hasn’t been PSU-esque, but WVU and Rocky Top ain’t nuttin’ to fuck wit.

God, the Boilermkers are just the Keystone Kops of the Big Ten this year.

They can’t get out of their own way. They’ve basically gifted Minnesota 21 pts today between turnovers and botched punts. (The other 7 were set up via Minny’s one good offensive play: throw it to Decker.)

by RossWB on Oct 10, 2009 1:10 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

The cellar of the Big Ten will be determined when the Zookers roll into West Lafayette on 10/24.

O/U on turnovers for that game? 8.5? 9.5?

by RossWB on Oct 10, 2009 1:15 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I dunno

Per Rivals, they’re starting 8 juniors or seniors on offense and 7 juniors or seniors on defense. I don’t know how much PT those guys have had before now, though. Or how many are JUCOs.

by RossWB on Oct 10, 2009 1:17 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

jNW

is just saving it up for the Iowa game. O/U on passing yards for their QB for that game: 450 (based on past performance, insert fruity French-sounding QB name here)

Is it possible that we'll need 4 live threads today?

2 for early games/ 2 for the onlygamethatmattersever?

by steaming_pile_of_awcrap on Oct 10, 2009 1:17 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I doubt it.

Too many of our regular commenters (and OPS and HS, of course) are in IC for the festivities, I think.

But if the threads get too unwieldy, I’ll be happy to make new ones.

by RossWB on Oct 10, 2009 1:19 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I asked the question

But truth be told, I probably won’t even be contributing to the thread come game time. I lack the part of the brain that keeps may hands from throwing things when I’m on edge. So its best for me to stay away from my laptop.

All the games on the WWL and BTN fucking suck right now.

KU/Clones?

But I’m not sure how good it is now..

by steaming_pile_of_awcrap on Oct 10, 2009 1:23 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah.

Sadly the one game that’s any good is on Versus, which I don’t get right now because Direct TV and Versus are stuck in a pissing contest.

by RossWB on Oct 10, 2009 1:24 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

If Kansas is really only this good

Nebraska is going to take the B12 North easily. After that, they’ll somehow shaft Texas on a miraculous/bullshit play/non-call in the B12 championship, and follow that up by backdooring their way into a NC game, at which point they will get beat the fuck down.

/run-on’d

by Ed Podolak of Good Judgement on Oct 10, 2009 1:29 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Watching Nebraska get dismantled is always fun.

Although the month of hype for the game would be tiresome.

That said, even if they somehow run the table, I don’t think they can overtake USC if they also run the table.

Chizik Watch

I can see Auburn losing 4 more games this year:

LSU
Ole Miss
Georgia
Alabama

I suspect they will beat Furman.

by Ed Podolak of Good Judgement on Oct 10, 2009 1:25 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I could see them rolling off the table.

If they can’t close the gap in this score today, then I have reservations about them competing with Kentucky.

I will concede Furman lol

Football-related question:

Went to a HS game last night (in Iowa). Opposing team’s kicker had a huge leg, and could easily kick the ball into the end zone. However, my team’s return man was able to field these kicks—-but it appeared that the referees would not allow him to field a kick in the end zone and run it out!

Has there been some kind of IHSAA rule change regarding this?

I believe he stepped in as a temporary measure

to replace Steve Pedersen, who hired Bill Callahan. This decision was tantamount to hiring Hitler as NU’s Ombudsman.

Osborne swooped in, had his pick of his former assistants, and went with slack-jawed yokel Bo Pelini. This decision justified by a winning season, Osborne decided to stick around in case any felons need an advocate before a big game. He is now the full-time Athletic Director when he’s not leading Promise Keepers rallies.

They just aren’t the dyed in the wool type, so I can ignore NE fans for the most part. Mizzou fans aren’t bad most of the time. But they are insufferable when either they are really good, or think they’re really good and then realize they aren’t (i.e. Thursday night)

But a Wisky win gives them confidence right before we play them

This is usually the spot in the season when Wisconsin falls apart. I’m hoping for a narrow tOSU win. Show that they’re beatable (and how), but blow up Wisconsin’s season.

I don't know that I've ever seen worse pass defense than I have today watching ISU and KU

Just deplorable.

Also, I don’t know that I’ve seen anyone get to 100+ yards in a more pedestrian fashion that Alex Robinson.

Perhaps my best years are gone. When there was a chance of happiness. But I wouldn't want them back. Not with the fire in me now. No, I wouldn't want them back.
