Bad, Bad Tech Problems Over Here
Not to be an alarmist, but I just got the bad boot/clicks of death when I booted up after getting home from work earlier this evening. System sat cold for ~5 hours before I tried booting again and here we are now--for now. I'm shutting down in 5 minutes before the clicks start again.
I'm thinking of investing in an external hard drive to back everything up on this 4-year-old system, then using that as my boot device unless someone's got a better idea. Money is an object, but I'm also acutely aware of the Cost of Ownership principle. Any and all help is appreciated, even if it means no dick/poop/pedophilia/homosexuality/marmotfucking/grammar jokes for one moment.
Oh, and anyone with a spare tower, I would totally dryhump right now (or also give a couple hundred dollars); all my accessories are great, but my CPU's days are Swayze-style numbered.
Help me, Obi-Blackheart Kegoldpants, you're my only hope.

I can't help you with your computer.
But I think it’s great that you requested no tasteless jokes and about 10 words later described your CPU’s days as “Swayze-style numbered.” Well done.

Neither am I the guy to give you the magic bullet
but in my poorly understood tech experience, you’re about to take one up the ass. I’d get that hard drive backed up pronto, preferably to a new machine.

Marmotfucking is nothing to joke about, son.
That said I’m not much help, tech-wise. Sorry. Good luck!

Oh Noes
If you are getting sound coming from your hard drive you need to back up anything that is important to you on a flash drive (if you can, your HD* may not permit it)…..you may also be able to get things off the clicking drive by using it as a secondary (non booting) drive on a different PC. All this being said if you are just getting clicks from your HD you don’t need a new PC, you just need a new HD which you can get for less than 100.00.
- HD stands for Hard Drive.

PC help
as you all know i’m a BlackBerry addict, but we came to assist our fellow Black & Gold fans.
a) for a shorterm fix…get yourself over to your local Circuit City Best Buy & pick up a External Portable Hard Drive
http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US/images/products/8761/8761887_rb.jpg
b) long term, you need a new hard drive before all your PRON Lt. Angle photos are lost.

Forget the external hard drive
They are a rip off and there is a cheaper/easier way. First, go buy the seagate hard drive that pfac51 listed (that is a good price). Then buy this. It will allow you to use the hard drive either as your replacement for your crunked one OR as an external one.

I 2nd that advice.
I wouldn’t buy it from Best Buy though. Shop www.TigerDirect.com for anything “techy”. They have the fat hookup on everything.

OPS
tigerdirect or newegg… Both good places to shop online for computer parts. I’d recommend a Western Digital Caviar over the 7200.10 Seagates. Both good drives, but the WD has less power consumption and a slightly lower failure rate out-of-the-box. However, before you spend $$$ on a HDD, make sure that it’s one that your computer can use. If your box is old enough, it might not have SATA connectors on the motherboard, and will require an IDE drive instead. Hit me up on HNO if you need more info.
