Recruiting Update
Seems as though the Hawks picked up a few recruits this weekend, the good folks at Rivals now have them at 17 verbals for this offseason. So far we have the two 4 stars from Iowa in Wegher and Keenan Davis, 4-3 stars and the rest 2. It seems as though most people were wondering how this class was going to turn out, and it looks as though it is rounding into shape nicely. They may not all be the top notch recruits, but they all seem like solid (if not spectacular) players. As we all know, recruiting and rankings are a complete crapshoot, but I think this class has a not of promise. In particular, this wide receiver if he turns out to be the player he looks as though he can be, combined with any of DJ-K, Trey Stross or Keenan Davis, this offense could be quite efficient next year.
Oh yeah, Boobs ( . )( . )

Careful with that link
My work PC stopped me from visiting the link you posted (see “this wide receiver”). It said it was a Mydoom Virus Website.
I'm a fan
of our recruiting class, it’s not all glitz and glammer like the 04 or 05 class we had that was rated top 10 (but look how that turned out) I think we got a potentially great receiver in davis, and some players who can redshirt this year, and fill in gaps when other guys graduate.
MacMillan verbals
I stumbled upon this at Hawkmania. Iowa lands a Rivals Prep School Top 50 prospect, Nolan MacMillan. The article makes him seem like a pretty solid kid.
¿Quieres chiclets?
Forget solid
This kid spent last year at THE HUN SCHOOL!
That’s right. We have a player who can not only help the team succeed…but actually help them conquer Eastern Europe.
Suck on that.

All o-line, baby
Lots of big boys in this class that will be ready to take over for the current tropue in 1 or 2 years.
It all starts up front.

I think if these guys don't flunk out or get in trouble with the law we will be in good shape.
As I look at our struggles between 2005 and 2007, I think most of our problems stemmed from the large number of defections from the 2003-2005 recruiting classes. The 2003 class only had 10-12 guys that were even on the team by 2006, for example. Player development is Ferentz’s bread and butter. When we lose guys to academic/legal troubles then all of the effort that Ferentz and co. put into development goes to waste. I hope Ferentz has learned that it is better to have 2* recruits that will stick around for 5 years as opposed to rolling the dice with 4* recruits that might be gone in 2 years. If our defection problems go away, I think we’ll be a consistent 8-9 win/year program with the occasional 7 or 10 win season thrown into the mix. I would be very happy with that.
