Chiefs To Hire Todd Haley?
According to the Kansas City Star, which attributes the news to Cris Collinsworth, the Chiefs are looking at current AZ Cardinals Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley to be their next head coach. Haley has a little history with Piolil, having worked with him on the Jets in the late '90's.
Haley was on a radio show this afternoon on my way home from work here in AZ, shortly after this story broke, and was asked about it. He basically shrugged off the question, saying he was focusing on getting the Cards ready for the Super Bowl (something i still can't believe i just typed. Just ridiculous...). He did, however, admit he thinks he is ready to be a head coach.
The KC Star piece also mentions that it had been speculated that Ferentz was a choice of Pioli, but talks about it being difficult for him to leave now with James just a Sophomore.
Again, not like i thought KF was going anywhere, but here's another indication he's definitely not leaving...

Its tough being a Chiefs fan....
for one thing the team went 2-14. Now there have been rumors of about 6 different coaches and maybe Herm even staying. Pioli must be running a tight ship if there is that much rampant speculation. Here is hoping we end up with someone before the rest of the teams fill their vacancies with the top candidates (read: missing McDaniels to the Broncos).

In Pioli we trustioli?
If the guy is the stud GM everyone seems to think, he’ll make the right decision as far as HC goes. Haley from AZ is an intruiging choice.
I want relevant football at Arrowhead again. It’s been awhile.

Edwards fired by Chiefs
KANSAS CITY — Kansas City Chiefs coach Herm Edwards was fired Friday, a well-placed source told ESPN.
Edwards was 15-33 in three seasons with the Chiefs, including 2-14 this season.
The Chiefs have been in negotiations to land Mike Shanahan as their next coach and a deal is near, league sources told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.
Edwards’ status has been in doubt since the Chiefs hired Scott Pioli as their general manager on Jan. 13. Asked at his introductory news conference about Edwards’ status, Pioli declined to say.
He was 41-44 in five seasons as head coach of the New York Jets, including three trips to the playoffs.
Edwards came to Kansas City from the Jets and made the playoffs in his first season,w hen the team was 9-7. But he was under fire after the team finished 4-12 in 2007. Team management gave him its support, but expected a run at the playoffs. Instead, the team went 2-14, leaving Edwards’ fate up in the air.
Friday, Pioli fired him.
