Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Northwestern at Wrigley

Seems the NU AD has had a brainstrom  He's seen hockey at Wrigley.  He's seen NIU vs Iowa at Solder Field, and now he wants into the action, proposing a game at Wrigley with Illinois.

Star-divide

Evenston to Wrigleyville is not a tough trip for the 18 people they normally put in the stands, and Illinois will obviously fill the stands, so it's a win for them, as they would get those box office numbers, and it wouldn't be any more or less of a "home" game than they normally put together.

But even by Evenston standards, that would be the worst tailgating ever.  No, let me ammend that, it would be a great 1 hr of slamming drinks at the bars there before the game, but non-existent tailgating.

Still, if Illinois wants to take a pass on it, I'm sure we could be persuaded to join.  As anybody who was at the Cubs game before the Iowa/NIU game knows, chanting I-O-W-A in the friendly confines works quite nicely.

I have to disagree..

this would an awesome idea. The Cubs never play in October, so you the schedule would be wide open. Football has been played there before, so it’s not like this is a new idea. Plus, the bars in and around Wrigleyville would be packed all day, which would be a welcome shot in the arm for the bar owners after the baseball season. If the Hawks could somehow get in on this, I would pay any amount of money to go see it.

Yeah why not

Also:

NU drew 32,166 for its 27-10 victory over the Illini on Nov. 22. In 2006, just 22,242 showed up to watch Northwestern beat Illinois 27-16 in Evanston.

That’s right, old fella, that shit is bananas

No self-respecting man from Iowa goes anywhere without beer

Is Evenston the same town as Evanston, IL.

Hate to be critical to a fellow Hawkeye, but . . The nice thing about their home games is that there are always plenty of seats for us regardless of the venue. As a White Sox fan as well, the only good thing I can say about the friendly confines is that it’s easy to find a drink at any of the nearby drinking establishments. Funny how cheering for the Cubs requires serious access to alcohol.

The plan works for me. As an open minded humanist, I have no problem with boys town. The purple uniforms alone should attract a larger crowd.

So I can't spell Evanston

But what about the tailgating?

Won’t somebody please think about the children tailgating?

you forget

The bears played there for almost 50 years. Hell, they stumbled upon the old goal post cement blocks during the field reconstruction last year.

I, for one, would love to see one of our DB’s knock someone into the ivy. And if they get lost in the ivy… ground rule double, bitch!
