WOW
Northwestern ran 79 plays. We ran 61. Time of possession basically a wash (30:07-29:53 in OUR favor). Coaches need to get the plays called and get players on the field. Why do need to huddle every time? Does every play call require a different skill package on the field? Judging by the vanilla offense we run I highly doubt that to be the case. In the words of the great John L. Smith: "The kids are playing their tails off, and the coaches are screwing it up." FUCK!

maybe it had to do with the pass run balance
Iowa 31 runs, 30 passes
Northwestern 34 runs, 45 passes
I don’t see why everyone is trying to jump all over the coaches. I guess it was because their wasn’t an obvious goat of a player so everybody looking for someone to blame goes for the coaching staff.

This is the dumbest complaint ever
You want Iowa, a team that’s never run a no huddle offense, to suddenly start doing so in the middle of the season with an inexperienced QB who hasn’t even been getting all the starters reps in practice? Yeah, that’s fucking brilliant.
They lost mostly because players made lots of mistakes (turnovers, bad tackling, dumb penalties) and Greene got hurt down the stretch. It didn’t have anything to do with the offensive play calling. There are some legit complaints about Norm’s stubborn refusal to adjust to team’s picking them apart underneath, but even that wouldn’t have matter if it weren’t for all the bone-headed mistakes.

Norse...
I said nothing about play calling, turnovers, bad penalties, tackling, etc. These are things that even the dumbest fan notices. I was merely making the point that there is no sense of urgnecy WHEN YOU ARE BEHIND WITH FIVE MINUTES LEFT, THE CLOCK IS RUNNING, AND YOU ARE STILL CHANGING PERSONNEL AND HUDDLING UP WASTING VALUABLE TIME. You simply cannot do this and give the opposing team 18 more cracks at the football when your defensive philosophy is bend but don’t break. Bring something with a little thought next time. Don’t just regurgitate what you heard on sound off.

What are you talking about?
They got down the field with plenty of time left on the clock to score. They just didn’t execute well once they got down near the goal line. With a QB as inexperienced and prone to mistakes as Stanzi, I’d much rather they take their time, especially since they had more than enough of it to work with.
