ESPN's E:60 Goes to Parkersburg
[We're re-running this story from September. We couldn't stand having that mugshot at the top of the page any longer. Much better to have a reminder of how beloved Ed Thomas--the coach, the teacher, and the man--truly was.--OPS]
We, like every other self-respecting blog, take an occasional shot at ESPN. That being said, we have to give credit where credit is due. If you don't have chills down your back and a lump in your throat while watching this E:60 segment on Aplington-Parkersburg football in the aftermath of this spring's tornado, you probably don't have a soul.

What a coach!
That guy is the definition of a good football coach. Honesty, integrity, commitment to the community. Very very impressive.
Easy on the ESPN praise
Inside the NFL did the exact same story a week earlier.

deja vu or rehash
I am pretty sure I saw at least parts of that story this summer on SC. It seems like they just expanded their piece to include the “first game” segment. So, apparently SC plagiarized Inside NFL which plagiarized SC.

Plagarism or not...
…that’s good stuff right there. I’ve always been a Casey Wiegmann fan as a Chiefs fan. Now that he’s a Bronco it’s a little tougher, but, those A-P guys seem like good dudes.
That story indeed gives one chills.
Big Ten Short Stories
also had a really good piece on him during the all Iowa day on Monday.

It was highlighted on SC
and the then full piece was run on E60. I would be surprised to find 5 or 6 versions of this done my that many different shows. It was a powerful story how high school sports bring a town together.
