Comcast Thinks A 31 Hour Tape Delay Is Just Fine

[Bumped way late, just because it should be front-page news that our Chicagoland Comcast subscribers are getting fucked. Also, according to comments, the game will be televised... Sunday evening. Seriously.--OPS]

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHH!

Comcast finally gets the Big Ten Network, so I can finally watch Hawkeye sports.  This is great, right?

Not so much.  For this coming weekend, they are only showing one game during the 11 AM slot, OSU vs Youngstown.  One of five that are scheduled.  ONE!  When I emailed asking about this, they responded that "Currently we only have one official Big Ten Channel. There's no current solid plans of adding any extra overflow channels at this moment to your lineup."

What the hell kind of truncated channel lineup is this?  So basically, they got the PR boost from saying they they have the BTN, but we, as customers, are still screwed.

I hate them.

TimeWarner . . .

. . . sucks balls as well. No overflow channels means I’ll get nothing but Buckeye games here.

DirectTV here I come!

TimeWarner screwed me in the rear without even so much as a reach-around

Last year, I was debating between Time Warner and DirectTV. The big decider: if TW would GUARANTEE that I could get the College Football Package, I was their customer. I was assured that it would be available.

A month before College Football Season, I call and order the package. The fee was added to my bill. I paid the bill. The week before the first game, I went to look for the Iowa game. Couldn’t find it. Called TW to find out what the deal was. After A FULL HOUR on the phone, I get the answer of: “That package isn’t available in your area. The salesperson should never have sold it to you. We are refunding your money.” MUTHA$#%&!

The folks at Buffalo Wild Wings now know me on a first name basis.

At least

they admitted defeat and you got a refund. Comcast would have shat in my ear. Over the phone even.

RCN, dude

If it’s available in whatever part of Chicagoland you are – switch to RCN. Fuck Comcast.

RCN provides two overflow channels. And the customer service is a million times better than Comcast’s (not saying much, I know).

Channel 693

According to the BTN site the game is going to be broadcast on Channel 693; however, I don’t have a channel 693 (it jumps from 670-something to 701). Anyone in Chicago-land have any idea if 693 is one of these mysterious “overflow” channels? I am trying to operate under some delusional hope that 693 will mystically appear on Saturday morning. (Author note: No I am not smoking crack and I am not really this dumb, I think I am just blinded by rage at the fact that despite having the BTN, I will be listening to the game on Yahoo.)

In talking with

(yelling) at their people today, the game with be shown Sunday at 6PM.

So you're sayin...

That comcast will replay the Iowa game on their lone BTN channel Sunday at 6pm? Sweet! I’ll just turn off my phone, computer, tv, and stay home until then so it’s a surprise to me! I love Comcast! What a bunch of great citizens!

I know, you're really sick of it.

Why is the BTN televising a scrimmage?

Update....

Sorry you bumped this. So…Comcast can only be described as stupid at this point. Me, I can be described as a lot of things. Rage filled may have been the best choice with this. Alarmist may also be up there, but I think it was justified.
As part of my Comcast multimedia hate barrage I also emailed the BTN to complain. They responded that, as three and out said, it’ll be on channel 693, which is marked for me as Xtra 2 (off air) on the in-tv guide.
I’m at that channel right now, and despite the fact that if claims to be off air, it’s actually showing an Illinois – Colorado game from 1990. I’m taking this as a good sign.
This only things I can ask at this point is why none of the 5 people that I either talked to or received email from had any idea that these channels existed, why their online schedule doesn’t list that channel, and the why online schedule shows that it’s on Sunday.

Thank you BTN. Comcast, thank you for allowing me to add “incompetent” to the descriptors that I use for you.

At least Comcast is consistent

Same deal here in Philly. They say publicly that they only carry the main BTN channel (which is showing Penn State), yet I am picking up this mysterious overflow channel 803 that BTN says it will be on. We’ll see if it shows the game or not tomorrow. The tv guide listing is generic.

Get DirecTV

I know, it’s a tired statement… but do it. DirecTV is where its at.

Wish I could

But like so many people I have a giant tree line in the way. I have no line of sight. Trust me, they’ve been out here.

Burn that bitch down!! :0

Sorry about that, I know how much that sucks. Same boat my in-laws are in.

Not so much a tree

I have to worry about my lovely neighborhood gangbangers troubled youth trying to “accidently” knock it down. I heart Uptown.

Cannot be said enough:

GET DIRECTV

I don't know, Mello Yello is pretty awful. What's the worst that could happen?

Good news this week

We are the BTN’s national game of the week against ISU. So if you get BTN but not the overflow channels, you’re in the clear.
