Bleed A Little Black and Gold
[gladly bumped from the diaries.--ed.]
Mark Hasty over at the Fanhouses has an article about some of the Iowa football players donating blood and the annual Purdue FB blood drive.
If nothing else, I think it's worth bringing this up since blood shortages are a continual issue.
It's nice to see that some of the Hawks stepped up to the plate. It's great to see that Purdue does this every year. I'm guessing it's a good team builder, letting the guys show how tough they are (cause nothing says macho like squeezing out of a pint in 3 minutes, then standing up and fainting) and it's a nice human interest story, which, God knows, the Hawks could use more of, but the important thing is that if you show up in the hospital needing a transfusion, there is a supply for you.
It's not difficult. It doesn't take long. If you can donate, do it. The nice people at the DeGowin Blood Center or Red Cross would love to hear from you.

Unfortunately, Casey McMillan is banned from giving blood because the last time he did a 65 year old man in cedar rapids threw a buick 6.5 miles.
