Inside the Coralville Vine
These have been making their way around the series of tubes over the past week. The Vine hasn't seen damage like this since the second Brad Banks fumble in the 2002 Iowa State game, after which I threw a dude off the balcony and devoured a defenseless waitress.
In any case, the damage is indescribable, to say nothing of the fact that every college kid who stayed in town for the summer to work here (or at any of the other restaurants and businesses on the Coralville Strip) is looking for a new job. The economic impact is staggering.

I was thinking more like Noah, but yeah, Biblical.

These flood pictures...
...will never stop being utterly shocking and surreal.

How did you get those pictures? Or where did you originally find them?

Initially, they were forwarded to me by a friend from Iowa City
Since then, I’ve received 2 more emails with the same shots.
I have no information on who took them, when they took them, or if they’ve been altered in any way. There are a couple of additional shots that I didn’t post that included what appeared to be members of a cleaning crew.
I can’t imagine they’re photoshopped, only because (1) the water levels match those seen in pictures of the Wig & Pen next door and the Old Chicago down the street, (2) there are details that would be awfully difficult to photoshop (at least for us), and (3) it’s a little twisted.
And, by the way, if someone owns these and doesn’t want them up, email me and I’ll take them down. I’ve received them from three sources, though, so I’d say the cat’s sufficiently out of the proverbial bag.

A more important question
Are those gumballs still good?

How can you think of gumballs at a time like this?
Think the tap beer is still fresh?

Terrible...
The flood has caused so much damage. Those pictures are unreal.
I remember the beer on tap at the Vine had a nice ice cold top to it.
The wings were great also. I had a buddy eat 4 dozen wings there one night.
I won’t tell you how the rest of his night went.
